Scars in Your Hands: What Do They Mean?

A scar is where trauma once stood but stands no more.
A scar is memory. (Why does scar tissue replace itself? If our cells constantly replenish, why does a scar remain? Memory of the injury? DNA? Both?)
A scar says you've engaged with life and survived the confrontation.
A scar makes you stronger.
Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia, says, "A scar results from the biologic process of wound repair in the skin and other tissues of the body. Thus, scarring is a natural part of the healing process. With the exception of very minor lesions, every wound (e.g. after accident, disease, or surgery) results in some degree of scarring." A scar is a healing. Ponder that for a moment.
Where do you have scars? The location is our first clue to its potential meaning. Since I'm a hand analyst by trade, we'll focus today on scars in your hands.
Here's a list of scar locations in your hands and their possible meanings. Please re-interpret the meaning for yourself by reflecting on how old you were when the injury occurred, how you felt about your life at that time and what issues you were struggling with then, if any. Please note these "scars" can be cuts, scrapes, sprains, discoloration, warts, calluses, etc.
Scar Locations In Your Hands:
* Back of the hand: Self-protection, self-defense, confrontation, avoidance, anger
* Thumb: Thwarted goals, frustration, incompletion, BIG desire for success and money
* Index/Pointer Finger (Jupiter): Power struggles, victim/abuser cycles, too much/too little responsibility, secret desire to lead, suppressed visionary capabilities
* Middle Finger (Saturn): Insecurity, doubt, fear, issues around time, money and self-esteem, desire to learn about business and be financially independent
* Ring Finger (Apollo): Reluctance to be visible or "on stage," need for approval and acceptance, being "nice" to win people over, fear of rejection, craving for artistic expression and acknowledgment
* Pinky Finger (Mercury): Communication issues in relationships and business transactions, not speaking up for one's self, fear of speaking out, buried desire to be a messenger (songwriter, actor, writer, speaker, TV/radio broadcaster)
* Palm, at base of the thumb: lack of joy, family abuse?, lost childhood, no time to play?, "is it time to learn to be a kid again?"
* Palm, at wrist: Fear of the unconscious, "living on the surface," confusion, muddy emotions, hunger for connection to archetypes, the collective unconscious, fascination with the work of Carl Jung, Freud, etc., desire to help the ailing (hospice work), love of the water? love of sea creatures?
* Palm, lower section, furthest from thumb: isolation, alienation, disconnected from spiritual depth and meaning, "where did she disappear to, she who howls at the moon?"
* Palm, center: Transition, career angst, anger about career, what's next?, can indicate a job or residence change
* Palm, between thumb and index finger: rage, early childhood violence (loss of parents, child abuse), lack of courage, upset over injustices toward self and/or others
* Palm, below index finger: suppressing leadership potential, fear of being seen in the front, are you willing to be the valedictorian in your own life?
* Palm, below middle finger: money/contractual issues, work issues around completing tasks, self-esteem and confidence issues, is it in writing? do you name your price and receive it?
* Palm, below ring finger: Is it time to be on stage? find your art studio? are you getting applause regularly?
* Palm, below pinky finger: How's your intimacy quotient? are you getting enough closeness and affection? are you a healer and not using your healing gifts?
You can look on your scar as a bad memory or as a clue to where your soul is wanting you to pay attention and stretch, grow and expand. The choice, as always, is yours.

Please tell me how to help my mom!
By: Tango9 | 06-09-2008
My mom is in a bad state. She is a hoarder, but I don't think that is the whole problem. My sister tried so hard to help her. She wants help.
Just to give you an example of how it goes... My mom had too many cats. My sister found a no-kill shelter to bring them to. My mom agreed to send 3 kittens there. Then she decides that she can't be sure that these cats will find a good home through a shelter because maybe someone will come and get a cat just to torture it. (She stumbled across a tortured cat as a child and was severely traumatized by the sight). So my sister suggested that we wash them up and de-flea them and place an ad so that we can find them a home ourselves. But mom didn't want anyone knowing that the cats came from her house because they are in rough shape. She will not let us take the cats elsewhere because she doesn't want anyone seeing her kittens unwashed and flea-ridden, plus there is nowhere else to bring the cats currently. So it's nearly impossible to help her. So we decided to just neuter them and de-flea them. She has bombed the house a few times, but has not treated the cats themselves. It is flea season, so the fleas are everywhere. She won't let my sister take the cats to her house to treat while they bomb mom's house because she doesn't want any of the cats getting loose and taking off. She won't put them in kennels because it's cruel to leave the cats in carriers for four whole hours....
She wants us to help and she desperately needs it. Her house is falling down on top of her, she has no means for heat this winter, any spare dime will go into her bovine instead of her oil tank. My sis had no problem paying for her heat if she were to live there this winter, but now that is not an option because she can not bring her kids into that home to stay. She wants us to help, but her fears make it impossible. Then she gets upset when we give up... she sees it like we are personally attacking her. Do you have any idea what's wrong with her or how we can help?
We are just all so frustrated. We are trying to do all that we can and still be very respectful of her feelings, but if we show even a hint of frustration towards her, she gts upset that we are "ganging up on her"... I desperately need answers. PLEASE!!!
I don't know if this will help any, but she was in a relationship for almost 25 years where she was not allowed to work outside the home and she suffered severe anxiety because of it. She is over that now.

I recently scratched my nose from the inside and now it's burning a bit and it is reddish. Will it go go down or is it an infection?
Pelvic ring break from motor cycle wreck
By: harleytay | 17-08-2008
Jan of 2007, my husband was in a serious motorcycle wreck, a vehicle stopped in front of him, and he was unable to stop before hitting the back of it. unfortunatley he sustained a broken pelvis, (ring) they had to rebuild his pelvis, put plates and put metal rods to hold it together, well in the meantime, therapy was having him lift over 200 lbs. from may til nov. 07, and he hurt all the time, but still gave it his all, unfortunately somehow one of the rods broke, so they had to do another surgery in Nov. 07 and do bone graft and put more plates in and around his pelvis, he is in severe pain all the time, the doctor says there is nothing else they can do. He is on permanant disability due to not being able to go back to the work he did before the wreck, and he stays in so much pain, he cant even be around family members for very long at a time. What or who can we talk to about an optional 3rd surgery to see if it will help. We went to the ER tonight to get him a shot to help with the pain, because it got to the point where he couldnt control his pain at all. I am at a loss in helping, I know he is frustrated. HELP Please.
Patient rights in the trauma bay
By: joe | 16-08-2008
a motor vehicle accident victim is delivered by EMS to the trauma bay. he is groggy, scared, and in pain, but is for the most part alert. after his examination, nurses insert a nasogastric tube and a foley catheter, each over his vocal objections. these procedures force him to bear even more pain than he already had. he was brought to the ER to be treated and to relieve his pain, not to have the staff inflict more. he tried to refuse the NG tube and the catheter, begging to at least be sedated beforehand. just what are a trauma patients rights in these situations?
