If you are committed to living a successful life, then adapt the habits of successful people. There really is a recipe for success. Let’s break it down here and put it into action.
1) Successful People Take Care of Themselves Show the world and yourself that you respect yourself and your body by treating it to regular exercise and healthy food. Countless studies have proven that eating right and exercise are instrumental to improving mood. Consequently, people in a good mood naturally attract success.
2) Successful People are Actively Grateful When we are thankful for what we already have, we open ourselves to more things to be grateful for. Show true appreciation for the people in your life and the creature comforts you already possess and the world will appreciate you back. That’s a guarantee!
3) Successful People do not feel sorry for themselves or others. DH Lawrence wrote: “I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself. A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself.” When we feel sorry for ourselves, we are disempowered. We are what we think, so let go of thoughts that only serve to hurt us further and deny us the happiness we all desire. Don’t waste your time on self-pity! Love yourself and the world will love you back.
4) Successful People Take Daily Actions Towards Their Goals Victor Frankl survived a Nazi concentration camp by focusing on the manuscript that he would write after he was freed. His belief that he had a something to contribute to mankind help motivate him to stay alive and never give up in the most horribly unimaginable situation. Frankl founded a type of psychiatry called “Logotherapy” which believed that it is the striving to find a meaning in one's life that is the primary motivating factor in a successful life. It is essential to have a goal and work towards it. Action is the key to success. Every step we take towards our goal is essential to get us there. Don’t forget to be happy along the journey.
5) Successful People Associate with like-mined, positive people. If you want to know someone, look at their friends. If we are to be successful, we need to surround ourselves with successful allies who will cheer us on when we triumph and keep us motivated during setbacks.
6) Successful People Model Themselves After Those Who Are Successful. It is important to have mentors to inspire us. It’s great to know that we don’t have to re-invent the wheel – someone had done it before us. Let’s utilize their experience and advise. Personally, I am always reading books by people who have overcome obstacles and contributed positively to the world. We all stand on the shoulders of giants!
7) Successful People Help Others. Successful people see themselves as part of a bigger picture and are eager to share what they know and lend a hand to others on the road of success. In fact, helping others is programmed into our brains. The same positive chemicals are released when we give as when we receive. Adopt these traits and you are well on your way! Don't give up!
