Endless Wait

Events cast their shadow on the atmosphere much in advance. It is just that a normal person cannot read the epic in between the lines. it was 13th august 1982. It was about 7a.m in the morning. The day appeared gloomy and suspicious. Apparantly ,it was an unusual morning in the family of Chaturvedi's The prince of the house , Keshav, a hansome young boy 0f 23 years who would generally be found active, lively, singing away to glory by this time was still asleep today. The Father was performing pooja , the mother was busy in the household chores and keshav'S Younger sister Sneha was studying for her exams,as she had her college exams in a month's time.

Surprised at her brother's unusual late sleeping she entered his room and said, 'why are you not getting up and having your tea. I have already prepared it twice. I then need to sit and study and would not like to be disturbed. With great effort and red soaring eyes he said slowly,

sister, give me the tea on bed itself, I shall not come to the terrace balcony to have it as I Have a splitting headache. (That is where he used to have his tea).so saying, she rushed to the kitchen to prepare a fresh cup of tea for him.little did she know about the storm to follow......

after a while she handed over the cup to him and turned to go. she heard a thud,falling of the cup . the tea had splilled all over the floor.probably, his trembling hands could not bear the weight of the cup. sneha turned back, considering it to be an accident , she cleaned the floor.

within minutes he had puked from the bed. she reluctantly cleaned that too.... not imagining his deteriorating health. He then fell from the bed, now , she did not know how to react. she called out to her mother. Keshav was a big prankster and a great actor at that. so, they thought it was some new drama. they tried lifting him up. but, when they realised that inspite of genuine effort and a lot of muscle power also he could not get up. she shrieked and called her father. All three of them helped him get on the bed. father"s wise eyes could probably see the trouble coming. so, he immediately called Dr. Brahmabhatt their family doctor. on examining, the Dr. suggested, he should be immediately taken to th C.T. Scan clinic for the head scan.

There was just one of it in town so, he was rushed there. In the meanwhile, it was decided to take him to the posh suburban hospital. By afternoon he was hospitalised.their worst fear had come true . he was suffering from brain hamorrage. there was a clot in his brain, that needed

to be removed. All this  while, though groaning in pain, keshav kept discussing his health consequences with the doctor. He even ensured his parents and the sister that he would soon recover and come back home. The next day he had a paralytical attack.the news of his ill health spread like wild fire. He was a brilliant promising boy. He had greatly influenced one and all by his wit, humour, charm and intelligence. In him everybody who knew him saw a ray of hope and happiness. there was deprssion in the air , people from all walks of life thronged the hospital from near and far. there were prayers being offered by people of all the religions.

Sneha ran from temples to astrologers pleading for her brothers healthy return to the house. the father called the best of doctors from far and wide . for him any amount of money was not

more for saving his darling son"s life. His mother's condition cannot be explained. she became speechless. he was a doting and obeydient son. A pride for any parents. but,   the third day he went into coma.................

god knows how the coming two days passed. there was no food, no sleep, no rest........

complete silence and numbness.then came the worst moment. the doctors of the hospital were probably too commercial and could not let the hospital bed remain occupied for too long .so, they declared him brain dead.everything came to a standstill.

A happy family was shattered,dreams faded........the time stopped.god showed his supremacy over human demand.He called back his loving son near him leving everyone griefing uncontrollably.

It was a dead end..................many lives ended in one go..........................
