Life of an Indian GirlLife of an Indian girl
An Indian girl, who is considered to be synonymous with laxmi (godess of wealth), lady luck , prosperity and joy, goes through several stages in her life. Each one is powerful and capable of leaving an impact on the strongest of souls (god) himself .she is like the butterfly with most vibrant colors of the universe. We all read, feel and understand her identity, yet, we treat her as per our convenience and whims and fancies.
The own mother, who has been nurturing her womb with utmost affection and care till her birth. Suddenly, falls short of Emotional affiliation on the sight of a daughter.because somewhere deep in her mind she is wishing and expecting to give a birth to a son. A son who would add to the prestige of the parent’s image.A son who would carry their name and heritage,A son who would get home a lot of wealth through his Marriage dowry and his individual earnings.there is no need to have sleepless nights worrying over his safety and marriage.
The little angel who is a girl is beautiful, soft, loving and charming. The creator of a family. It is such a pleasure watching her, listening to her sweet melodious voice.her delicate approach towards life, the rolling tears in her eyes at the slightest scoldings and bully by the boys, brother and other stronger species.Observing her hidden desire to be like her mother or the teacher, whom she has been admiring secretly. It is such a pleasure dressing her up on occasions with all the soft colours, laces and flowers. She truly resembles the fairy from the sky.In her we see a reflection of our childhood.
What follows is her schooling. She goes to school in the spotless crisp uniform.she is academically conscious about her performance from the first day. She tries her best to be in the good books of all the teachers, score highest marks in all the subjects, never be punished by any teacher. She wants to remain disciplined in front of her fellow boys. She craves to be appreciated in front of other girls. This greed for appreciation keeps her ahead of the boys. She has big career goals and high ambitions in life. At home, she is a helping hand for the other family members. She is expected never to misbehave, back answer or be rude. she tries to comply with all the conditions.
The third stage is that of adolescence. She goes through various experiences. There are biological changes , which makes her self-conscious and shy.The pressure of her ever growing syllabus in the school. The peering eyes doling over her body of the neighbours, classmates and the other men –folk. She is all the while, aware of her growing beauty each day. So, does the restrictions on her keep on increasing by the parents, teachers, relatives and well wishers. Many a times she is temped to make the best of her growing popularity.she is driven by the charm of the opposite sex, she is attracted. Unknowingly, she ventures in the forbidden island .there is an intense search for love.her delicate heart wanders to find someone who could understand her, care for her and most importantly make her feel important and valued.
There is eventually a tug of war between her parents and her to find the “Mr. Right”. All this goes on while she is advised to improve her grooming sense, dressing sense, culiniary expertise and responsibility handling. She is made aware of the fact that she needs to conduct herself well enough to be able to handle a family independently. She is made health conscious.every time she develops a soft corner for anyone , she either pulls herself back voluntarily , or is forced to pull herself back for she is not sure of the person who would finally hold the strings of her life. She is at a threshold with all her grace, beauty, emotions to shower on her would –be husband. What follows is a pure fantasy? New life, new atmosphere, new experiences, new power and responsibility.
She takes charge of her life. Unconsciously ,repeats most of the activities she had observed her mother or bhabhi do. If she is mature and lucky her marriage turns out to be a bliss, or else a nightmare.she soon has children, her understanding of her mother improves as she has stepped into her shoes. She completely forgets her identity and totally selflessly sacrifices herself for the welfare of her family. Her children , who are her own extention and her husband(her destiny). She comes to terms with the situation. This period flies very fast. She doesn’t even realize and she reaches middle age.she is totally involved in her children’s career and their marriage.she experiences utmost happiness when she sees her cute grandchildren playing around. She is most possessive about them. She never keeps a track of time and effort that has gone into reaching this stage of her life. She forgets all her pain and agony. She only looks back to count her blessings by comparing herself with ladies of the lesser luck.
She is old now, she is to some extent at the mercy of her son and daughter in law. Her state of affairs totally depends on the kind of bonding and emotional security that she has built over the period of time. She is considered extremely lucky if she dies in the presence of her husband.what she leaves behind her is the fragrance and trail of her contribution to mankind. ABLA TERI YEHI KAHANI, ANCHAL MEIN HAI DOODH AUR ANKHON MEIN HAI PANI.
