Maximizing profit in the modern business world is about working smarter, not working harder. With so many business and personal enterprises now having an internet presence, Google AdSense can help you achieve greater returns on your website with very little extra work and no extra monetary resources at all! By completing a simple online Google AdSense application and adding a bit of code to your web site, you can begin earning money immediately without slaving away at your desk all day. You simply let the power and the presence of the multi-billion strong online community work for you.

AdSense works like many other mainstream advertising techniques, but with a special World Wide Web twist: rather than earning a flat fee for providing advertising space (as you would, say, in a magazine), with Google AdSense, your earnings are based on the traffic generated by your web site. The more people who visit your site, the more who will be attracted to the Google ads displayed there, and the more money you make.

As an added monetary incentive, Google goes through the trouble of making sure your site will earn the maximum it can by holding auctions between cost per click (CPC) and cost per thousand impressions (CPM) ad providers and sending the most lucratively priced ads your way.

There are a variety of different styles of ads that you can employ using Google AdSense. The ads may be as simple as colorful text ads, or they may also be images, or even the more recent 'click to play' AdSense videos. AdSense videos and ads are available in a number of sizes and shapes from 'button size' to 'banner' and 'skyscraper' ads, depending on the space you have available and on how much of your web site you want to dedicate to advertising. You can even customize the look of the ads by utilizing templates and color pickers so they fit in better with the overall appearance. So, if you think red clashes with your colors, change it to orange. All the changes are simple to accomplish, and require very little expertise. Google provides detailed instructions to help you through every step of the process.

A variation on the standard Google AdSense ad or AdSense videos is to install a Google search bar on your site. You simply cut and paste a block of simple html code into your page source and, immediately, your web visitors can scour the internet for content of interest while making money for you. Aside from easy money, another benefit to installing a Google search field is that your clients will be spending more time on your web pages, and are more likely to find something there that they want.

One of the primary keys to the success of Google's AdSense program is what is known as 'contextual advertising'. Just as you would find camera, studio and developing advertisements in a specialty photography magazine, AdSense ads are targeted to the same audience as your web site. For example, a site about poodles might attract ads about dog associations, grooming tips or training manuals. The ads can be sorted geographically, so that the ads will be relevant to your local clientele, rather than overseas services that probably don't matter locally. This heightened sense of relevancy is further incentive for your website visitors to click away on your AdSense ads, making you money without even trying.

You might be thinking: If all this advertising is targeted directly at my customers, and if it deals with content relevant to my web site and the services I provide, couldn't I be sending my clients straight into the hands of my competitors? They might be Google advertisers! Business is tough and of course you would be concerned about directing your clients to services provided by your competitors. That's why with AdSense, you control which ads appear on your site. If one of the ads assigned to your site belongs to a competing business, you can block it so it does not appear on any of your web pages. You can even block ads you do not feel reflect the spirit or content of your web site, although Google does go to great lengths to assure its clients that all ad content is relevant, appropriate, family friendly, and in good taste.

So how do you begin benefiting from Google AdSense? Simply fill in the online application form which details the URL who to direct the money to, and your agreement to abide by AdSense policies. Once you have been approved as an AdSense publisher, you will given simple instructions to get the ads posted to your site, and then you're done! You will receive reports that allow you to track the success of your AdSense program, and to let you know how much money you have made by allowing the ads on your site. The reports are customizable so you will find them easy to read and understand.

You can also turn AdSense into ad dollars by registering as a Google advertiser and having thousands of sites host your ads for the world to see. Increased direction to your site will result in increased web traffic, and most likely, increased sales, donations, membership or awareness (depending on the purpose and goals of your site). Whether you are interested in AdSense videos, images, or text ads, contact Google to find out how you can become an AdSense advertiser.
