Boost Online Sales by Building Traffic

To increase online sales you have to bring more traffic to your website, traffic can be get for free or by paying it: there are many ways to build traffic and that can be online as offline. The first way to increase traffic is to optimize our website for a keyword or a phrase, the choose of this keyword or phrase can be done using a tool like Google Adwords but we must keep in mind that more traffic brings a keyword then more difficult will be ranking for it. We should also strive to reach the top positions in the first page results as they are the ones that bring more traffic. You can achieve this goal by studying SEO, that is the acronym of search engine optimization, or you can hire a SEO consulent to do it for you.

Another way to increase online sales by increasing traffic is PPC advertising like Google Adwords: you can place your ads in other websites and paying just the clicks you get from them so you are not charged by impressions and this can be thought in part as free advertising. You can also benefit from the ad search feature of Google in which besides search organic results are displayed the more relevant ads to the searched terms and clicks on them and are not charged as Google says.

Another way to increase traffic and therefore online sales is email marketing: your website receive visitors that go away and that probably you will never see anymore but you can do your best in getting their contacts as their email providing the subscription to your newsletter and incentiving this by giving a bonus like a freely downloadable ebook. You can show this offer to your visitors using a popup or an ad hover.

What we have talked before are online strategies to build traffic and to keep it returning to your website, of course you can do a lot offline: for example you can print your website's address in your paper mail or brochures along with your business contacts. You can put it on your car or on the leaflets you give through an advertising company. You shouldn't miss to print your website's address on your business card.

Another way to increase online traffic is forum marketing: forum marketing is about posting new threads or comments in the many forums you can find by the internet, what you write shouldn't be excessively promotional but rather informative in an intelligent way. Forum marketing is not a long term traffic strategy, it just brings you good targeted traffic that anyway disappear in a couple of days so you have to retain it through autoresponders or newsletters.

Also affiliate marketing can bring you new visitors as other affiliates will sell your product through your affiliate link: this means lots of visits to your landing page and also in this case you shouldn't miss the opportunity to retain people who visited your website. Don't forget to use video marketing that is about creating a good video and sharing through youtube: youtube is the most important video sharing network and is a very important site for google in fact it ranks very well in its search results: write a good title along with a good description, tag it well and post it in some important social networks as Digg or Delicious and you will be in the top of Google.
