Building Search Engine Placement

There are the certain ways to build proper high placement in search engines. However, one must recognize that there are negative effects to not abiding by principles that where at one time used widely. These were used effectively but now will not only have a negative effect; they may even have your site banished from search engines. We will explore each of these.

Link Building:

Link building is one of the most important things that you can do to achieve more visibility. They are part of the formula to get your site spidered and indexed by the search engines. Links are simply on your website and on others sites. They identify your sites as well as those who placed your links on their websites.

A reciprocal link is when a website links to you and they link back to you. They are not seen by Google as having the best value but it is still a great way to get more traffic and climb in the search engines.

Be cautious about which sites you do link to. Linking just for the sake of boosting link popularity is spamming and can actually decrease your ranking.

-         Make sure that the links are high quality

-         Links need to be related to your product or service

-         Each link must be able to link from one site to another

-         They need to be keyword related

-         Use anchor text links, which have text around the link

-         Add links to you landing page or on the second page of your website

-         Check to make sure these sites have not been penalized. Use Google tool bar: www.toolbar.google.com

Proper Tagging:

These tags are in the head section of the document. Meta tags can be used to specify page description, keywords and any other elements and attributes.

Meta tags give valuable information about a webpage, used to help search engines categorize them correctly. They are inserted into the HTML document, but are usually not visible to a user.

Your main page should have a higher relevance than your other pages. Only you can decide on the score of the other ones.

Meta Title Tag:

The title in your HTML should look like this:

<title>Titlecopygoeshere<title>

Meta Description Tag:

This tag allows you, the owner to determine how your page will be described within the search engines for viewing. Using the link will help you tremendously as your tag should be between 50 to 200 characters without repeating keywords, phrases more than once, and be separated by comas. Also, no single word should be repeated more than 4 times and the first letter of each word should be capitalized.

A description tag should look like this:

<META name=”description “content=”Web Hosting, Web site design, domain names and SSL certificates from Network”>

Meta Keywords:

These keywords are in relationship to each one of you web pages. You insert them at the top of each page using at least 75 characters. Do not include the following words: a, and, the , or.

The keyword tag should look like this:

<META name=”Keywords” content= Add your keywords here”>

Adding too much to your tags to try to increase search engine rankings instead of focusing on your criteria and niche base sends up red flags as well.

Keyword Stuffing:

Keyword density is of the number of times the selected keyword appears on your web page. This ratio of keywords is a factor in determining whether a web page is relevant to a specified keyword or keyword phrase. That ratio should be in the 6-8% range.

Adding too many keywords to try to artificially boost your rankings is keyword stuffing. This will also have a negative impact and can actually, if you overdue the process, banish you from the search engines, especially Google.

So follow these principles and build your placement properly.
