The role that a visitor tracking system or a hit counter have in a search engine optimization or a general promoting campaign for your website is very important. In the next few paragraphs I'll try to make a point in this and to show you how the data from hit counters or tracking systems can help you improve your website and how you can bring visitors to your page.
First of all, let's see what kind of visitors we want for our websites.
The most important for promoting a website is to have something to say, to share or to offer. You can't have a huge number of visitors if you're not one of the best in your field. Think of the reason a person may visit your site over and over again. If suck a reason exists, then you'll have alot of visitors to your site.
Once you've found this reason, you need to start your promoting campaign. Your taget is to attract visitors that are interesting in what you're writing or what you offer, that may buy your product, if you're selling one. This class of visitors is called Targeted Visitors. So, you got to improve your targeted traffic. Those visitors can generate profit for you bussiness and there's a hign probability that they'll visit your page periodically. The main refferer for targeted visitors are search engines and PPC campaigns. PPC cost money, so search engines are the best.
Second, let's see what role a hit counter or a visitor tracking system have in bringing visitors to your site.
In order to have visitors from search engines you got to have the right keywords in your articles. Write the articles around certain keywords repeat the keywords like in the next example:
- Title - keyword appears once
- First paragraph - twice
- The rest of the paragraphs - once
A visitor tracking system can help you even more. With such a system you can see what keywords bring visitors to your website. Change the keywords that don't direct visitors from the search engines to your website. It can happen that some visitors are directed to your website from keywords you didn't wrote articles around. You must wrote articles around those keywprds and your targeted traffic will increase.
