What are keywords? How does keywords help sites to rank in SERP?

Keywords are playing important role in SEO. The majority of traffic to a website is brought by different search engines.

Many blogger don't know how to use keywords, they don't even know that repeating keywords several times can penalyze their site. Repeating a keyword several times is called Keyword Stuffing. They just know that if they'll put keywords on their site, their site will be crawled by SEs. That is one of the biggest mistake a blogger can do. Here is an example of repeated keywords: bags, black bags, red bags, and blue bags. On this example two things are wrong. One is the word 'and'. On putting keywords on your site you don't need to add the word and, then, this, that and there. Those words are called stop word. Stop words meaning words that are ignored by the Search Engines. The other problem with the given keywords are the words 'bags'. As you can see, the word bags are used four (4) times. You don't need to do that, the correct way of putting keywords with bags are: bags, black, red, blue. On that way, search engine will know that your site are offering bags in different colors. Doing keyword stuffing can penalize your site.

There are some keyword suggestion tools available for free. Some are: SEO tools - Keyword Suggestion for Google, Overture, Wordtracker, Google's Keyword Tool, and many more. Those are some of the tools that can help you select the most popular keywords.

After choosing the keyword suggestion tools that you are going to use. Start to list down the different keywords that you choose. After that, you must know where to put those keywords. First, put your top keywords in the title of your site and also in the description. But, make sure you didn't put lots of keywords on your title. Why? because the title of your site is the first place the Search Engines scan. You can also put your keywords on your Headline. Through headlines, visitors can easily read what is your site all about. And then the third place where you can put your keywords is in the content. You should put keywords on your content reasonably.

You can also add keywords on your images by using alt tags. It was said to be that images can also bring traffic.
