Off-page search engine optimization
The optimization of your web content is extremely important in ensuring that your site ranks well in search engines but at the same time search engine algorithms also take off-page factors into account in order to determine the relevance and importance of a web page.
The off-page seo elements include:
· Backlinks to your website
· Page Rank of the Pages Linking to your site
· Link Exchange which your website is doing
· Anchor text of the links to your website
· Relevancy of the links
· Directories where your site is listed
· Traffic which your site is getting
· Bookmark
The most important off-page elements are backlinks and Link Exchange which are the links to your website page that need to be relevent for achieving the best results. The more links you have to your page with related keywords, the better will its ranking be on Search Engines. off-page seo are those elements that are on other websites and have an impact (good or bad) on your sites.
Backlinks:
These are also known as inbound links and are links to pages in a site from other websites. Search engine algorithms are known to use these incoming links as a kind of voting system to determine the importance and relevance of a website.
A website should not only have many backlinks, but the backlinks should also be of high quality. The quality is determined by their topical relevance to a website and the importance and quality of the site the backlinks originate from.
For example, a book website might have backlinks that come from book review sites, publishing house sites, the sites of writers, book cafes and so on. Such links would all be very closely related to the actual content of the book website and accordingly considered important by search engines. Some of these linking sites may be very popular and well respected which would further enhance the value of the links. If, on the other hand, links originated from sites that are completely unrelated to the book site (for example a site filled with nothing but advertising banners or affiliate links), the backlinks would not add to the importance or relevance of the book site.
Optimize Your Domain Name
Search engines do weigh the fact that a domain name has relevant keywords in it. The number of years your domain has, and will be, registered for also has an effect on search engine rankings. If you have an older domain name, it is generally concluded that the website is not spam and will probably be around for years to come. It may be a good idea to acquire a domain name that been around for a few years and also contains one of your keywords.
Page Rank
Search engines assign each web page a Page Rank based on the number and quality of inbound links you have pointing to your website. In order to get your number up you’ll have to get other websites to link to you.
Here are some tips to obtain the best quality back links:
One-way links are better than reciprocal links. Reciprocal links are being de-valued because it is not natural linking – it’s an arrangement between the webmasters. It may be a good idea to buy some one-way links to your website.
Get links from pages with a high Page Rank because some of that will pass through to your site, increasing your own site’s Page Rank.
Get links from sites in a related industry or geographical location.
Make sure your keywords are included in the link from other sites. If your keyword is included in the anchor text, Search Engines will assume that your site relates to that particular keyword.
The off-page factors for making a website rank well in the search engines are probably even more important than the on-page factors. This is because the off-page factors are like a representative opinion of the rest of the websites on the Internet.
