Silo structuring is all about designing and linking your site in such a way that Google, Yahoo, Bing and everyone else will be magnetically drawn to your site. - Google compares the newcomers to the existing authority sites in the same niche. Hence, making it even more valuable to become the authority site.
- Google then goes to its filing cabinet on each of the authority sites and reviews which keywords they have indexed. This is where the Co-Occurrence Matrix comes in; what are the synonyms indexed for each keyword? Example: Lose Weight and Diet.
- The baby site is then reviewed keyword by keyword against the authority sites. If you have the right combination of indexed keywords congratulations! You just received a great "trust score" from Google! Unfortunately, it's impossible to know one's trust score since Google holds this close to their chest, and it is for their eyes only.

Before diving in, you must understand the progression of the steps:
1. Create Categories that are deeply focused
2. Treat each Category along with co-coordinating subpages as separate web pages.
3. Begin internal linking: Link category content pages to one another.
4. Start backlinking: Each silo, or category/sub-category niche receives its own backlinking campaign.
These 4 simply steps open the doors wide open to friendly Google spiders and make it nice and cozy for them. An easy to read web site equates to a highly rated web site.

- Treat your low-competition, highly-searched keywords like royalty. These are your designated category titles, or Silos.
- Remember, we are building each Silo to have authority of its own right, no cross linking. Link Silo pages to each other, no mixing Silos!
- Desperate to get more PR for your landing pages? Go ahead and link landing pages to landing pages. No deep, internal linking, but on a navigational level, you can get away with it.
- Little things that add to each Silos authority: Inbound links that are quality and relevant.
You know that you've hit the Silo structuring on the head when you wake up to see your site with an indented listing! If you are unfamiliar with the "indented listing" term, it simply means that you will see your web site indexed, and the directly underneath this listing in Google, you will see another page from your site, but this listing is indented. A few of your categories are gathering a presence in their market, great job!
How to Create the Silo Structure with Various Web Site Designs
1. Root Domain with attached blog - yoursite.com/blog
This is the best linking scenario for this website set-up:
- All the blog categories must be similar or identical to your web site silo categories. Google can analyze all your content quickly and will reward you for it.
- Link your blog posts to your main site pages. Link to the Homepage, silo pages and corresponding content pages.
- Link blog static pages to blog posts.
- Do deep link and do change the anchor text.
- Try to stick to one link per 100 words on your blog posts.
- Link posts to other posts.
What will all this hard work get you? Page rank from blog posts is shared to the blog's static pages and your static web site silos.
2. Blog Silo Structure
- The standard silo landing page is replaced by static blog pages. Related content is assigned to the representing page.
- Individual blot posts gain exposure and traffic and pass the increased page rank to each blog page.
- That's it!
Website marketing takes considerable knowledge in many online fields. Every "tweak," and "test" that adds to a web site's rank and improves traffic is a must follow.
