The current economic crisis has a lot of people pinching their pennies. Clipping coupons from the Sunday paper has suddenly become a family past time. Aside from traditional coupon clipping, there are several other ways to not only save money, but to even score some free stuff.
Perhaps the easiest way to find free products is to simply go to your favorite search engine and type in "free stuff" or "free samples". Some companies do this for promotional purposes or to introduce a new product. These offers are absolutely free and don’t even require shipping fees. The most popular items typically given away in such samples are usually hygienic products. Similarly, there are some companies that will send you free samples of their products in exchange for your opinion of that product.
Also, always remember that a little flattery is usually good for free rewards. Many companies are known to send free samples to consumers that have contacted them with compliments about their products. They do this to show their appreciation and as an assurance that they are keeping their customers consistently pleased.
Some people feel that the opposite approach also works. That is, if you contact a company with a complaint about one of their products, they tend to send you out free samples in order to make up for your bad experience. Some people don’t go this route, however. After all, if you aren’t happy with a product, why would you want more of it? The one plus side to this is that if you take a professional approach to the complaint—perhaps a very concerned phone call or well-thought out and polite letter—some companies will often send out coupons or vouchers that are worth much more than the money that was lost on the original product. Be sure to remain polite and never be rude; try to think of the conversation as a business transaction.
The bottom line is that all companies want to know how their product is viewed by the public. Keep in mind that the "Contact Us" information is not on labels just for decoration. Most companies genuinely want to hear your opinions. So if you have a complaint, a suggestion or are simply very pleased with a product, it never hurts to contact the company to let them know. By reaching out to companies in such a way, you can usually expect to receive coupons, vouchers or free samples for your efforts.
