The Advantages of Pure and Natural Fabrics

Often being eco friendly and kind to the environment often means going back to natural methods and materials. And just because a natural or eco friendly product is made from natural fabrics that doesn't mean that there has to be a compromise in quality, style and comfort.

In fact, natural fabrics are often softer, warmer, more comfortable and more stylish than man-made fibres and they don't have to be expensive either.

Wool is one of the oldest of fibres used by man. We have bee spinning wool for thousands of years as it is one of the softest and warmest fibres there is. Just think of sheep stuck out in the hills during winter, how is it that they keep warm? The key is in the secrets of wool.

Woollen fibres are crinkled which help strap air without adding weightto the sheeps coat. These crinkle fibres also make wool springy and soft. One of the greatest uses of wool in my opinion is in as pillows and bed covers.

A pure wool pillow give fantastic support and can aid a really good nights sleep. They also keep their shape and don;t require plumping, while a pure wool duvet will keep you warmer than just about any other duvet but because its breathable you never become too hot and 100% wool duvets can even help keep you cool in the summer.

Bamboo is another eco-friendly material but it is greatly underrated. Like wool, bamboo is incredibly breathable and bio-thermic (responds to your bodies temperature but bamboo goes one further as it is perhaps one of the most sustainable fibres available as it is an extremely fast growing grass that requires no herbicides or pesticides.

And Bamboo is soft too and has other great qualities such as good water absorption and anti-bacterial properties which makes bamboo bath towels perhaps the best type of towel around. It also makes great clothing particularly sports clothing like bamboo activewear.
