It seems that almost every time we turn on the TV or open the news paper or a magazine to read there is another add for another skin treatment product that promises to erase years off of a persons face. Do these products actualy work or are they only giving desperate people false hopes that they can recapture just a few years of their lost youth.
The fact of the matter is that some work better then others and many have absolutely no effect at all other then smoothing the skins surface with oils that are contained in the product. The good news is that as the result of extensive research into the actual dynamics of degraded and damaged skin great progress has been made in the development of products that effectively target distinct areas of damaged skin.
This research has also led to the development of products that go below the skins surface where they then function on a cellular level in the skins substrate. It is important to understand that once skin cells and connective tissues have been damaged it is absolutly imposiible to repair them with the technology that is available at this point in time.
However; what research developers and scientists have focused on is developing substances that induce skin cells and connective tissue to mimic younger skin. For instance, it was discovered that it was the thinning of a layer of cells and connective tissue in the skins substrate called the dermal epidermal junction that was the primary cause of crows feet in the thin skin around the eyes.
This in turn led to the development of products that contain substances that promote fluid retention and collagen production in the dermal epidermal junction, resulting in shorter and shallower crows feet wrinkles around the eyes and lips. Was the skin actualy repaired? No but with deminished or eliminated crows feet you will look years younger and thats what matters.
