Back Acne and Bathing Suits - How to Get Rid of the Acne

Acne affects approximately 4 out of 5 people from the ages of 12 through 24 years.  Most people find that it is both emotionally and psychologically stressful and can lead to depression and desperate purchases of over the counter medications.

During swimsuit season people who suffer from acne also focus on the pimples which occur on their back.  Back acne is a separate form of acne that is actually different from the usual facial pimples, pustules and nodules.  In most people skin breakouts occur on the face and neck, sometimes the chest.  But in others these pimples and pustules will happen on the back, commonly between the shoulder blades and along the shoulders.

Like acne that occurs on the face researchers and doctors have found no single causative factor but believed the formation is due to some of the same factors that impact the outbreaks of pimples on the face and chest.  Other triggers that appeared to be specific to an individual's back are tight clothing that forces perspiration to be trapped against the skin.  This can also happen when an individual.  A heavy bag or backpack and irritation can happen along the strapline shoulders.

Treatment for pimples that occur along the back includes keeping this area clean and dry.  It is important for individuals to take showers daily, especially after a grueling workout or a long day at the office.  People should also avoid wearing tight fitting clothing, especially during hot weather or in a hot office environment.

Back acne can develop into something that is more severe, that includes cysts or will cause permanent skin damage and scarring.  Those who suffer from consistent pimples and pustules should seek the advice of a dermatologist to minimize any permanent damage.

Many have found the use of over-the-counter medications in mild to moderate cases to be successful. Dermatologists also recommend that it is important to adjust the diet to accomodate an improved vitamin and mineral intake.  Our skin is the second largest organ in the body and the cellular growth and development is dependent upon recieving the right amount and type of nutrition - vitamins and minerals.

The goal in treatment of back acne is to minimize scarring and permanent damage to the skin.  Although we cannot see our own back it is quite embarrassing to be addressed in a backless gown or bathing suit with a back full of red pimples or scar tissue.

Cleaning the back is an important part of a good treatment plan, but it is also the hardest place on the body to clean and often the most neglected.  You can improve your success level by using a mild exfoliating agents and a back brush to scrupulously clean those hard to reach places.  By cleaning the area you begin the process of removing those painful spots in keeping pimples away.

Drying your back is also usually neglected when getting out of the pool or stepping out of the shower.  When you leave moisture on your back and continue to get dressed and encourages the poorest to become clogged with dead skin that has not been removed in the drying process.

Those who suffer from back acne should keep their back as germ-free is possible by wearing clean air he caught and clothing, especially when they work out.  If you're working out at the gym then use a clean towel underneath your back before lying down on an exercise machine.  Your wet T-shirts will train and support bacteria left from the person before you directly onto the skin of your back and increase the risk of breaking out.

A little known boost to your efforts of keeping your back clean of pimples is the use of a steam room right after your workout.  A good steam will help to open your pores even further and allow you to clean the skin better when you hit the showers immediately after the workout.

People who suffer from stubborn back acne is often more difficult to treat than facial acne.  Although they are similar in nature back acne may require chemical exfoliation or oral antibiotics in order to help to clear sufficiently.  The key factor is to stay clean, dry and away from tight clothing, including heavy backpacks and purses.  Experiment with over-the-counter medications and consult with your dermatologist if the condition becomes severe in order to avoid any permanent damage or scarring.

Back acne can be difficult to deal with but it is not impossible.  New treatments are now available from the dermatologist if over-the-counter medications do not sufficiently address the issue.  Do not overlook the ability of good nutrition, vitamin supplementation and keeping the back clean and dry as ways of decreasing outbreaks of pimples and pustules.  By combining any over-the-counter medications with nutrition and cleanliness most individuals are able to keep their backs from breaking out enough that wearing a bathing suit or a backless dress is exciting and not embarrassing.
