Eye Gel vs. Face Cream - Are They The Same?

Many people use some type of anti wrinkle eye gel around their eyes to try to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, puffiness, and dark circles. It is common to just use the same cream or gel on the eyes as on the face but using the same product on your eyes that you use on your face is not always a good idea. The area around the eyes has specific needs that are better met by a product made especially for the eye area.

Because the skin around your eyes has different needs than the skin on your face it is best to use a gel that is made specifically for the area around your eyes. Using an eye gel will help you look younger and rejuvenated because it can help treat because dark circles, baggy eyelids, lines, wrinkles, and puffiness. A face cream, however, and actually irritate the delicate skin around the eyes and make these symptoms worse.

There are a few reasons why it is important to use an eye gel on the area around the eyes instead of a face cream. The skin around your eyes is very thin and face creams are designed to penetrate deeply into skin. Eye gels are designed not to penetrate too deeply into skin because it can cause irritation in the delicate skin around the eyes if the product penetrates too deep. Eye gels that do not penetrate too deeply will not cause irritation and worsen symptoms like face creams.

Regular face creams do not usually have the right ingredients that will combat the signs of aging around the eyes. The best eye gels contain active ingredients that work well around the eyes like haloxyl and coenzyme Q10. Quality eye gels with these ingredients will create an improvement faster and more effectively than other types of creams and gels.

Product like eye gels that are designed for use on the eyelids have to undergo testing to make sure they are safe for use around the eyes. Regular face cream does not always have to be tested for eye safety depending on where it is supposed to be applied and can cause irritation or damage to the eye if it gets too close. Make sure you choose an eye gel that has been tested for safety around the eye so if it accidentally enters the eye you will not suffer any damage.
