Nature can be giving especially when it comes to the various herbs and spices it provides that can help us detoxify the liver and help restore it to a fully functioning organ. These liver helping herbs can even be multipurpose and help the body combat other ailments such as cellulite.
The reason why many of these liver friendly herbs are good at getting rid of cellulite is because they can be both thermogenic and anti- inflammatory. They can help you boost your metabolism allowing you to burn fat and they can reduce inflammation on the cellular level which will in turn affect cellulite in a noticeable manner.
Try using these two liver friendly herbs and spices and find yourself astounded by the results.
Milk Thistle
As far as the liver is concerned, Milk thistle is pretty much the best thing since sliced bread. In fact, it has probably been around a little bit longer than slice bread, being used as a treatment for liver problems for the past two millennia (making sliced bread the best thing since milk thistle).
Pliny of ancient Rome was the first to suggest that milk thistle helps the liver move bile and in 1986 Germany’s Commission E approved of the use of the herb for treatment of alcoholic hepatitis, fatty liver, liver cirrhosis and liver poisoning. Milk thistle has also been used to help protect the liver from certain medications that might prove toxic to the organ.
So why is milk thistle all the rage? Researchers like to point to the presence of Silymarin, a powerful antioxidant with the ability to protect cells and inhibit the growth of tumors. Studies have found that this antioxidant may help promote liver cell regeneration and reduce the damage to liver cells due to chronic prescription drug abuse.
Silymarin has also been found to strengthen the liver’s outer surface which makes it difficult for toxins to enter it. Silymarin also seems to help encourage the reaction between enzymes promoting faster and more proficient regeneration of liver cells allowing for the quicker replacement of the older cells aiding in the detoxification process.
Artichoke extract
The artichoke is said to be milk thistle’s close cousin, and researchers have found that artichoke extract can also help protect your liver and help in the liver cell regeneration process. Much like milk thistle, the artichoke has been around since the time before sliced bread, seeing use as a medicine and form of liver disease prevention since the Middle Ages.
Today, artichoke juice is a popular liver tonic in France and researchers from Switzerland to Japan have submitted scientific reports about the artichokes ability to break down fat and remove bile. Remember, the better the bile flows through the liver, the easier it is for the organ to remove waste including fat globules.
Milk thistle and artichoke extract have been proven to help the liver detoxify and well as protect it from damage that toxins may cause it. Toxic substances are sometimes temporarily turned into something even more toxic during the detoxification process. Without the help of herbs like milk thistle and artichoke extract, the liver might find itself damaged a bit more every time it neutralizes a toxin. Also, getting rid of cellulite is all about making sure your liver and lymphatic systems are functioning with maximum efficiency.
