Herpes Zoster

Herpes is a rather common viral infection that affects a lot of people. Basically there are two types: Herpes-Zoster and Herpes-Simplex.

Herpes Zoster is caused by Varicella Zoster virus. This is the same virus that causes chicken pox. Many doctors believe that if a person ends up getting chicken pox, the virus never leaves the body of the person. The virus stays dormant and when reactivated, the virus causes herpes.

Herpes is defined as an infectious disease that causes painful spots on the skin especially on individual’s face and sexual organs. The HSV or the Herpes Simplex Virus causes herpes. HSV is of two types- Type 1 and Type 2. Based on this Herpes 1 is distinguished from Herpes 2. Herpes 1 is mainly associated with fever, blister, and sores etc. while herpes 2 is understood to be genital infection. The type of herpes is detected by the symptoms and the nature of virus.

Herpes is a virus with two different types or "simplexes". There is an effective herpes treament available! The first simplex is called HSV1 and is the most common. This simplex attacks the oral region, and is most commonly known as a cold sore or oral herpes. Most people do not realize that there is a herpes treatment for this herpes simplex. The second simplex is called HSV2, this simplex attacks the genital tract. A Herpes Treatment for outbreaks is possible, this includes a herpes treatment for both genital and oral herpes (HSV1 and HSV2).

Symptoms of Herpes:

• Swollen lymph glands

• Headaches

• Blisters

• Itching

• Burning

• Fever

• Pain Sensations

Causes of Herpes Zoster:

Eating spicy food or even a gentle wind can lead to herpes outbreaks. Aside from that, people who are constantly exposed to stress and weak immune systems are also more prone. Herpes zoster is caused by varicella virus. With this virus, a person can also catch chicken pox.

Prevention and Cures:

1] Treatment of herpes zoster consists of anti-virals (e.g. Acyclovir), ant-inflammatory medications (e.g. NSAIDS) and topical creams (e.g. Cortisone). The blisters should not be forced to open. The sores may be dried by compressing them with vinegar (diluted with lukewarm water) for at least ten minutes twice a day. As crusts and scabs leave the skin dry, petroleum jelly may be applied to the area. The blisters and sores usually heal in two to four weeks but may leave scars. Ocular herpes zoster is managed with eye drops and/or ointments.

2] Lot of research has been done on all forms of herpes. Thus, good medication is available for this disease. Treatment usually varies from the kind of HSV infection. Nowadays, the antiviral drugs such as acyclovir, famciclovir, valacyclovir are very effective in controlling herpes. Many anti- inflammation ointments/ lotions etc. are prescribed to reduce the burning, irritation and heal the sores.

3] Healing Natural Oils offers an effective treatment for herpes with two different products that are currently available.

Herpes zoster is not a life threatening disease however, proper attention should be given to it as it can cause embarrassment to you. It can also affect your self esteem and self confidence. You must therefore act right away once you experience herpes zoster symptoms.
