Today, any parent will know just how important it is for their kids to be protected from the sun's damaging UV rays. A generation ago it may have been popular to broil like a turkey on the beach, but not now. Today we are all very aware of the dangers of spending too many hours in the sun and wind.
One of the biggest playgrounds for children in the warmer months is a beautiful beach. These sites beckon to us with bright blue skies, azure water and toasty, sparkling sand. The kids are certainly not the only ones who want to spend the entire day strolling along the shore and splashing in the waves. The biggest problem with this idyllic setting is making sure that our kids have enough sun protection available.
Of course we slather ourselves and our kids with sunscreen and protective ointments, but there are still some major weaknesses in this defense strategy. Children have tender, delicate skin and even the best sunscreen eventually washes off, or loses its effect. Let's not forget that kids have the ability to stay outside for hours and sun protection that must be applied frequently can be forgotten or ignored.
Sometimes we do not realize just how long everyone has been outside until we are faced with the stinging, fiery redness of sunburn. Little shoulders and backs are often the least able to deal with extensive exposure to the UV sun rays and kids can suffer severe painful damage from the sun with only small amounts of outdoor exposure. The damage from the sun creates long term effects that can show up years later in the form of skin cancers, rashes or even premature aging. This makes it even more important to properly protect children from this danger beginning in their earliest years.
Although we may think that our childrens swimwear is appropriate and safe, some are made from materials that can not block the penetrating rays of the sun. We do not usually apply sunscreen areas covered by swimwear because we tend to think that the clothing is enough protection.. By the time we are aware of a problem it is often when the skin is already itching or red. Then we can only try to alleviate the discomfort and minimize the damage. This is why everyone needs to be aware of the many different swimwear items for kids with special sun-protective features. Now your children can enjoy the beach and the great outdoors with even greater skin protection than sunscreen alone can provide. With stylish and comfortable sun protection swimsuits , shirts, shoes and cover-ups children can be kept safe from the harsh effects of wind, surf, and UV rays.
