Simple Ways to Prevent Wrinkles

One of the best ways to prevent wrinkles is to make a point to not develop fine lines and blemishes before they show up on your face. Here are several helpful tips that you can use every day to keep your appearance intact.

Drink Lots of Water

Drinking plenty of water is among the easiest things to do. In addition to being good for you, water will also rid your body of toxins while keeping your skin hydrated. Dry skin is one of the main causes of wrinkles, so the more water you drink, the less likely you are to develop fine lines around the eyes and mouth, or on the forehead. Try to strive for a gallon every day if you are able to, or reach for a sixteen-ounce bottle at your local convenience store each day. Brands such as Smart Water from Glaceau are great if you are attempting to replace electrolytes in your body. Calcium and magnesium are key minerals in the more high-priced brands like Fiji and Evian.

Use the Best Facial Moisturizer

When buying face washes and moisturizers, look for those that contain vitamin C, vitamin E, glycolic acid, and salicylic acid, since all of these ingredients are very helpful when you are trying to prevent wrinkles. Vitamins assist in maintaining a healthy skin while actively encouraging blood flow through the skin cells. Glycolic and salicylic acids comprise alpha and beta hydroxy acids, which help the skin to eliminate dead cells.  You should also strive to keep your skin is as clean as possible. To that end, use make-up that will not clog up your pores and make certain that you remove all makeup from your face before going to bed each night.

Avoid Sun Damage to the Skin

You should also ensure that you use a facial moisturizer that includes a high SPF since this will protect your skin from the damaging UVB and UVA rays of the sun. Excessive sun exposure can develop into a big obstacle if you are trying to prevent wrinkles, so make sure that even when you are wearing moisturizer, that you limit your sun exposure as far as possible.

Avoid Skin Damage from Smoking and Excess Alcohol Consumption

Other ways to prevent wrinkles is to avoid certain bad habits, such as smoking and drinking alcohol. This will mean making certain lifestyle changes but it will be worth the effort in the long run.

Smoking will give you blemishes and fine lines that can be hard to reverse. The nicotine in cigarettes will make it even more difficult for your skin to produce collagen as you age, and it may take several injections and laser treatments to restore your appearance.

Excessive alcohol consumption reduces the amount of water in the body, and since skin needs moisture in order to stay supple, wrinkles can easily surface. Try to stick with the motto of everything in moderation, limit your alcohol intake to social gatherings only, and if you are out on the town often, try to have a drink only once a week.

Finally, yet importantly, getting enough sleep and reducing stress will also do wonders in helping you to prevent wrinkles.
