What if I told you these clear skin tips can also help you as the years go by? Some people have problems with blemishes and pimples throughout their life. Others don't. The reason for that difference may be partly due to heredity or genetic makeup, but that doesn't mean you are doomed by your ancestors. Dermatologists recommend a number of different treatments, but there are some things that you can do yourself and they are relatively easy and inexpensive.
Kill the Bacteria
Bacteria, present within the tube that leads from the sebaceous gland to the skin's surface, are the cause of pimples and infected cysts. When the tube, commonly referred to as a pore, becomes clogged with keratin, dead cells, dirt or old oil, the bacteria starts to feed on these things and the result is a minor infection that shows up as a swollen red, pus-filled sore.
The common brands of anti-bacterial cleansers on the market contain triclosan. The bacteria that cause acne become resistant to this synthetic antibacterial agent, as well as other antibiotic ointments that are commonly used. The bacteria are not likely to become resistant to natural compounds with anti-bacterial activity, which include active manuka honey and tea tree oil.
Some of the clear skin tips that you see have to do with light. There are specialized light bulbs that have been developed for daily use. With bi-weekly use, these have been shown to reduce outbreaks by about 64%. If you only have occasional blemishes, you may try spending a little more time in the sun, but not too much. Overexposure causes free radical damage that can eventually become a wrinkle or a skin cancer.
Don't Clog the Pores
Ingredients found in makeup, soaps and many ointments will clog the pores, which starts the whole bacterial growth mentioned above. Be sure that anything that you use on your skin, including makeup, is free of mineral oil, paraffin, petrolatum or petroleum jelly. Water-based products with natural pigments are the best choice.
Cleanse Gently and Regularly
Some of the clear skin tips that you see recommend exfoliation or scrubs. These are not actually beneficial. They cause the pores to become inflamed and close up, which is just as bad as being clogged. Clean your face twice a day, using a cleanser that contains tea tree oil or manuka honey. That's you best bet.
Use a Natural Moisturizer
The reason that some clear skin tips do not recommend the use of moisturizers is because most of them contain petrolatum or one of the other pore clogging ingredients mentioned above. Moisturizers that contain plant-based oils do not clog the pores, because they are very similar to the skin's own oils.
So there you have it! Even if you feel that your skin is too oily, that's not really a problem. Oiler skin stays younger looking much longer than dry skin does. So, wash away excessive oils and then use a cream containing grape seed oil and natural vitamin E. If you want to learn more, read some of my other clear skin tips.
