Understanding the Reasons Why We Get Cellulite - Facts About Fat

Although cellulite, also known as edematous - fibro sclerotic panniculopathy is extremely common among the females, it should be noted that it is a fatty problem that is not directly related to obesity. It manifests itself with both fat and lean people without any discrimination. It can occur anywhere in the body but it is mostly concentrated around the buttocks, thighs or the abdomen. The causes of these fatty deposits are many but mainly it is attributed to lifestyle habits, hormones, and age.

What are the causes?

Women are usually going through many hormonal changes throughout their lives: some of these periods occur during puberty, pregnancy, menopause, premenstrual syndrome and even when the body is adjusting to the use of birth control procedures. All these changes are greatly known to contribute to development of fatty deposits beneath the skin. They are caused by a general slow down in blood flow, lymphatic drainage, fat and a breakdown of connective tissue. Any change in this process causes the appearance of this bumpy cheese like skin.

One other contributing factor in the formation of cheese skin is our lifestyles. Even for people who participate in regular exercise it is still possible to develop the condition. An unhealthy diet and lack of exercise will only make the condition worse than it generally would be. This is because this habit results in poor circulation and water retention which only enhance the problem.

When we get older, our skin naturally loses its thickness and this causes a loss of tone in connective tissues within the inner layer of the skin so that superficial fat layers cause visible bumps on the skin. There are also research findings that indicate that estrogen breaks down collagen which can also lead to the condition known as cheese skin.

Treatment methods

There are many methods of treating cellulite in the market today, both surgical and non surgical. Some treatments will include creams, teas and pills. Some people have found help in the diet that they take by eliminating salty dishes, chemical additives and spices. Anything that improves circulation like exercise will benefit your body a great deal. The duration the cellulite has stayed in your body can also determine what treatment method it will respond to. For better results some people combine exercise, diet and some products.

Conclusion

There is a surgical treatment method known as liposuction in which the excess fatty deposits are removed from the skin. There several types of the procedure but usually a surgeon will help one to choose the best method for them. Liposuction is beneficial in dealing with cellulite, but like any other surgical procedure it can be accompanied by a few risks. Some of the risks include hypertension, diabetes, and cardiac problems. This skin challenge can be embarrassing but it can also be dealt with by some determination and consistency in the method you choose.
