1. Acquire a business partner. Try to find partners that have the same interests and objectives. You can trade leads, contacts, share marketing info, combine deals such as packaging things together, etc.
2. Get your name and business out there. You can easily do this for free by just writing articles and submitting them to e-zines, article directories, free classifieds or web sites for republishing.
3. Set up an auction on your web site. Make the auction related to the theme of your site. You'll draw traffic from auctioneers and bidders, as well as lurkers.
4. Brainstorm. It is very important to take some time to brainstorm on a daily basis. Coming up with new and fresh ideas is important to your success.
5. Look at other successful business people, what is it that they do? Study them try to emulate what makes them successful.
6. You must be willing to take risks. You must take risks to improve your business. Don’t be afraid to spend money on advertising or other forms of marketing. It takes money to make money.
7. Wording in your advertisement is important to catch the potential lead. Use emotional words in your advertisements like love, security, satisfaction, fun, freedom, etc.
8. Get feedback. Ask people to leave comments on your website. Customer feedback is very important, listen to the customer; the comments could mean more sales.
9. Get help. You can’t do it all yourself and you can’t afford to have regular employees. You could out source your secretarial work, accounting, marketing, etc when needed.
10. Depending what you are selling, you could possibly combine a product and service together. If you are selling computers, perhaps you could offer free setup or an hour of training.
