Choosing early retirement is a balance between having financial security and good mental and physical health. In our working world, the typical age of retirement is 65. However, many people are selecting early retirement, but they have to weigh the facts about outliving their finances and not waiting so long that their mental and physical health is compromised. In order to make this decision, You should take your time and consider your family situation, your health, your finances, your dreams and what you think your goals may be.
To help you make this dicions, you might consider writing down all of the pros and cons of early retirement. Be honest with you self in scrutininzing the advantages and disadvantages. Then decide whether the pros out weigh the cons. You should be honest with yourself to determine whether the benefits of retiring early are more than the benefits that you will be losing from your work situation. Don't be afraid to consult advice from your spouse and your friends. The people closest to you will be able to give you insightful advice as to whether you are making a mistake or are making a reasonable decision for you and those closest to you.
After you have gone through this process, see whether the pros outweigh the cons. If they do, then it is reasonable for you to consider early retirement. In today's economy with the downsizing of the work force, after you have taken an early retirement, you may look back and find that you previous company of employment would have sacked you anyway. And now through your early retirement, you ave escaped that forced loss of your position and are enjoying early retirement.
If you are like most people who decide to take early retirement, once you have adjusted to your new environment you would not even consider returning to your previous schedule. This time in life will give you oppportunities to have extra leisure time and to develop and maintain your physical, mental and spiritual health.
