Interesting facts about Pricing and Labelling Guns and Labels

The most common application for price guns is for pricing, date coding, batch coding or a combination of all three.

Labelling

Price marking is one of the most common uses of pricing guns, it has been used in the retail market for over sixty years, pricing guns and labels have proven to be an economical, very efficient way of putting the price on an item for display.

The first patent for a price marking machine was in 1899, the need and the efficiency of pricing guns has grown as the retail sector worldwide has evolved.  One of the first manufacturers to forge ahead with labeling systems and is still used today is Sato International, from Japan.

Price Guns

As retailing has become more complex, other uses have been designed for the basic price gun, a second line of print was added, this additional line of print gives the gun greater versatility, more and more information has been needed to go on to the labels, and one of the most economical and effective solutions is the price gun, it is lightweight, durable and very easy to load.

The Sato Duo 20 (PB220) is a classic two line pricing gun.  Numbers can be printed on the bottom and letters on the top.

Although many companies also now offer a three line price and labeling gun to maximize the amount of information that can be printed on a label, the PB3-208 is a popular three line pricing gun, which can put three lines of information onto the label as desired.

A popular one line price gun is the Sato Kendo 26 which will show the price clearly and efficiently.

Health and Safety has become more and more of a concern over recent years and date coding has become a very important part of labeling.  Pricing labels with best before and use by labels is a very popular, quick way of labeling perishable food products.

A price and labeling gun serves as both the printer and the applicator and a trained operator will easily be able to mark products at a speed.
