Self Employed Carpenter

Benifits

Being self employed means a person can set his or her standard and schedule. He or she can go on break when they want, take lunch when they want, and they set there own hours of when they wat to work. If he or she wants to take a vacation they can do it without worrying about if someone over them will be mad.

Majority of carpenters work under contractors, they have to be at work at a certain time. They may have to dress a certain way, take break or lunch at a specific time in order to keep there job. They have to ask to take a vacation on which they have a chance of being denied. Some carpenters may even have to ask during a work day "can they go to the bathroom".

A carpenter who is running the job completly has a lot going for him or her. Most importantly a carpenter that runs his ow business determines how succesful his or her future will be. The smarter a carpenter works the more money comes in. If mistakes are repetitive on carpentry jobs they surely will become costly.

Challenges

One of the biggest problems a carpenter could have is finding carpentry jobs. It is important to stay connected with people the more connected a person is the more jobs he or she will get.
If a person has no connetions and they are running a carpentry business then they must advertise to keep there business running without one or the other it is hard to survive.

Aother challenge can be making up contracts and getting material it can be a hassle on any job. In any event I reccomend finding a dependable partner if things become overwhelming at times. A partner can help take some of the load off the carpenters shoulders.

Dealing with customers head on can be fun, exciting, and tough all at the same time, it all depends on who the contractor meets. We deal with all kinds of personalities out there. And through it all it is important to remain proffessional and try not to loose your cool.
