The world No. 2 got to the semifinals after defending the German Mischa Zverev 7-6 (7-3) 6-2 whereas the Serbian had a great game against Juan Martin del Potro, in which the world No.3 beat the Argentine with a score of 6-3, 6-4. In the last 10 meetings between the two, Federer has won 8 matches, however in the last confrontation Djokovic played in great way and beat the Swiss 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 during the semifinals at the Sony Ericsson Open. Now the Swiss is expecting to play a better match against Djokovic and hopes to increase his game and his confidence with a win in Rome. On the other hand, Djokovic played an unbelievably clever game against the Argentinean, who tried to avoid changing the pace but Djokovic took that advantage incredibly well and Del Potro definitely could not put up with it. With three breaks in the first set and an ace on set point Djokovic demonstrated his dominance over Del Potro. And despite that Juan Martin Del Potro improved his serve in the second set, that wasn’t enough to tie the game and at the end Djokovic got a victory with a score of 6-4 in the second set.
