Italian Football - Inter Wins the Scudetto for the Fourth Consecutive Time

The 16-time Italian Serie A champions, the FC Internazionale Milano, won its fourth consecutive title after beating Siena 3-0 this past Sunday. The second place, A.C Milan, needed a win or a draw on Saturday to have a chance to reach Inter and keep the title race alive since it was 7 points ahead with only two games left in the season; however, A.C Milan lost their chances after losing 2-1 against Udinese, who played a great match and took away their opportunity for the Scudetto this season.

This is the 17th Serie A title for Inter Milan, who became only the third club to reach four titles in a row in the history of the competition, after Juventus and Torino which made the same accomplishment in the early 1930s and late 1940’s respectively.

During the game against Siena, Inter played with aggressiveness and despite being aware already that they were the champions after the A.C Milan loss, Inter knew their celebration will not be complete if they did not win consistently against Siena.

The first goal came with a great play of the Argentinean Cambiasso, who opened the score right before the break, after Siena’s goalkeeper Gianluca Curci had already saved two attempts. In the second half, at minute 52 Balotelli finished off with a great assist from Luis Figo and later on at minute 76 the Sweden’s star Ibrahimovic  scored his 22nd goal of the season to round the score 3-0 and close the game plausibly.  The celebration was definitely widely more enjoyed after this impressive victory and Mourihno and his players were more than satisfied with their achievement.

At the end of the game, the Portuguese star Luis Figo, who recently announced that he will retire when the season ends, expressed that this Scudetto means more to them because it was more difficult this year and that it is also because it was also a great way for him to retire from the highest level of football.

"It's always difficult to win a league title in Italy. But with respect to the previous Serie A titles, this one feels different because it has been slightly more difficult," stated the veteran Inter Milan midfielder Luis Figo.

On the other hand, this was the first Scudetto from the former Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho, who now goes into the history books for winning three different league titles on his first year as coach in three different countries; in Portugal with Porto, in England with Chelsea and now in Italy with Inter.

For his part, Inter Milano president Massimo Moratti was very proud of his team and expressed that he was more than impressed with the team performance all season long and the way they handle the pressure with AC Milan trying to keep the title race alive. Now Moratti, Mourinho and the entire team are hoping to achieve another Scudetto next season, and keep making history as one of the most prominent clubs in the Italian football.

Jose is indeed the "special" one. Luis Figo and Maldini will definitely be missed.

Youth Football

The answer may surprise you. Many youth football teams try to emulate the coach that he had seen on television over the last week or what the coach ran like a high school player 20 years ago. Unfortunately, what works in the College or Pro level on television often does not work very well at the youth level. High School Coach of the system may well have proved to his team's 20-30 years ago, 6 days a week of practice and fleet Running back, but sad at the youth level.
