As a €35m deal for Karim Benzema is done, the question that bothers many a mind is that was it really that necessary when the club already have a whole host of strikers with young talents of Higuain and Huntelaar having big potential, Raul and Van Nistelrooy with experience, with Negredo also coming off of a good season with Almeria last year.
It will create anxiety, insecurity, and instability in the squad—especially Gonzalo Higuain and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
While Higuain would have been thinking of building up on his stellar performances of last year and Huntelaar trying to make it permanently into the first team to prove his true potential, now Huntelaar—not Higuain because Real won’t want to let go of him—might be considering saving his career, and at the same time improving his prospects for inclusion in Netherland’s World Cup squad, by moving elsewhere.
Even Florentino Perez refered to this eventuality recently and said "We need to concentrate our efforts on convincing some players that they will have to leave. It should not be forgotten there is a World Cup next summer and all our players want to play in it.”
And further, "If players aren't going to have the chance to participate here, they'll want to do it somewhere else, to be able to make it to the World Cup."
Already many top clubs are being named to be interested like AC Milan and even Manchester United. Already AC Milan's vice-president Adriano Galliani has commented that, "We are going to sign a great forward. Luis Fabiano and Huntelaar are options, but neither will arrive before Monday."
Apparently Jorge Valdano does not value Huntelaar as an important part of the offense for next season. For Huntelaar this would be a tempting opportunity he may not want to miss considering his seemingly reduced chances for first team play at Real Madrid next season.
