I wanted to unlock my wii console to play the backup games for my wii. I looked into the web for several methods to unlock the wii and found out that installing a mod chip was one option, but expensive at $100 per installation and it may void the warranty. There was also the risk of my wii getting damaged in the process. Then, I saw Homebrework and said that I could unlock my wii with just a software without voiding the warranty in less than 15 minutes and without touching any hardware. Sounds promising but I researched it first and found out how to backup wii games and copy wii games with homebrew.
I have lots of questions that satisfactorily answered by Homebrew:
- Can Wii Unlocker unlock the wii with system update V4.0?
My friend unlock his wii with some wii unlocker but when he upgraded his wii to V4.0 it locked again. He tried this wii homebrew unlocker and it unlocked his wii again. Showing us that this unlocker can unlock any versions of wii.
- Do I need a copy of Zelda Twilight Princess to unlock my console ?
No this method does not require a copy of Zelda Twilight Princess.
- Can Wii Unlocker void my warranty?
No it will not void your warranty since this is software application.
- Can I access the Wii Channel while I have Homebrew Channel installed on my console?
Yes you can access the wii channel as usual as you do.
- Is it safe to update my console while having Homebrew channel on my console?
Yes you can update your console, but just to be on the safe side I do not recommend yet.
- Can I uninstall Homebrew Channel?
Yes you can, just delete it like you regularly delete a save game and continue using your wii like you never had the channel.
After installing Homebrew, I was able to backup wii games and copy my wii games and I was amazed that I can even play imported games on my wii. Homebrework unlock my wii and had a minimal effort to get it running. I had some questions, but the support was very helpful and solved my issue within a day. The instructions were straight forward and I didn't have to mess with my wii hardware.
Above, are just my experiences in unlocking my wii, to backup my wii games and to copy wii games with homebrew. I learned how to install the Homebrew application easily without opening my wii console. I now know how to unlock different features on Wii safely without voiding warranty. I was able to play backup wii games, play imported games and region locked games. I was also able to play Homebrew Games, play DVD Movies and Mp3 Songs.
