Here are 10 tips to easily fix XP errors:
- Remember what happened before the error. Try to remember the last thing you did on your PC before the error happens. Better still, if you had a fail safe point, you can easily revert to the so-called last working settings. Alternatively, try to remove whatever you've just added or simply revert to previous settings.
- Don't fiddle with your antivirus or firewall. If for any reason you choose to change your firewall settings, be sure that you don't expose yourself to potential danger by outside malware invasion.
- Know BIOS beep codes. Most BIOS makers have hardwired beep codes that tell you what may be causing the error. Learn to know theses beep codes. They will make it easy for you to fix XP.
- Regularly cleanup your registry. Registry cleaners are a type of utilities that scan your PC for registry clutter and remove them.
- Visit computer support forums. The error you're having has probably been experienced by someone else before (nothing new under the sun). Not only they've found the solution to it, but they made sure to post it on some support forum. All you have to do is go out and get the solution, free of charge.
- Request remote assistance. If you got a computer geek among your friends ask for remote support. Get them to fix your XP. He will surely show you how to set that up.
- Have backups. Fixing XP is also preventing data loss through regular backups. Don't get caught witth your pants down. Computers don't fail every day, but they eventually do.
- Google the error. Do a cut and paste with the error text you get and google it out. You get fast and better results using that method.
- Don' fiddle with system files. The default setting is that systems files are hidden. If for one reason or another you chose to view them, be very careful about changing anything. Whatever you do here don't delete any file before you back them up. Don't change any settings before you run a backup.
- If anything else fails, call a technician. They are paid to do fix computers.
