Free anti spyware programs are a cheap and effective way to remove the spyware from your computer. But because of their free nature, all of the free anti spyware programs out there are not all created equal. Some programs contain trackers and adware themselves. These programs can make your computer even slower than it was before with the spyware alone.
Most free anti spyware software also comes with a paid version of the software. This paid version is a definite upgrade from the free version because well, it's paid for. Of course you are going to get more things like updated spyware definitions, technical support and some other important and use features I'm sure. Those mentioned are just some that are common among the differences in paid vs. free anti spyware software.
Malwarebytes is a good free program that is pretty easy to install. You can do a quick scan, or a deep scan of your system. It scanned my computer quickly. Malwarebytes is very popular solidifying its quality as a free anti spyware program.
AVG is another good free spyware program. A lot of people recommend it. I used it a few times, but I noticed that it missed some things. I still had pop ups and typical spyware and malware difficulties after wards.
Lavasoft makes the popular Ad-aware anti spyware software. While I did like it when the presence of spyware was just arriving on the internet, I feel it does not do the job efficiently enough anymore.
I use Spyware Doctor on my computer to remove spyware. I did have to pay for it, but it was worth it.
