Inventory Management System Discussed by Qc Software Founder Rich Hite

QC Software (www.qcsoftware.com) is the leading provider of Tier 1 warehouse control systems to the warehousing and distribution industries.   Since 1996, QC Software, utilizing state of the art technology combined with extensive research, development, and rigorous testing, has developed the QC Enterprise suite of products.  Designed to be modular in nature, easily configurable, and platform independent, this highly scalable solution satisfies the needs of any size warehouse.

According to Rich Hite, founder of QC Software, “The QC IMS (Inventory Management System) uses state of the art technology to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of warehouse operations and data integrity.   QC IMS manages all of your item numbers, warehouse locations.   The major inventory events which QC IMS encompasses include bar code label printing, receiving, put-away, cycle counting, picking, and replenishment. “

Barcode Label Printing:  The Label Manager within QC IMS enables users to produce labels for locations, items, and shipping.   Labels may be printed manually or on-demand and applied utilizing various methods including automated, in-line print and apply technology.

Receiving: QC IMS provides full functionality for receiving goods into the warehouse utilizing Portable Data Terminals (PDT).   The receiving function allows product to be expeditiously received into the warehouse and staged for put-away.

Put-Away: The put-away functionality built into QC IMS allows for random or directed put-away of goods within the warehouse. The put-away function also provides for the capability to move items between locations.

Picking: The picking function adjusts inventory levels based on pick transactions from a PDT or other picking system such as Pick to Light.   Working in concert with QC OMS, transactions are processed within QC IMS providing full traceability of inventory movements within the system.

Replenishment: QC IMS controls the replenishment between bulk storage locations and pick locations.   The replenishment engine continuously monitors inventory levels of active pick locations and automatically generates replenishment tasks based on a minimum quantity threshold set for each item.   Replenishment tasks may also be generated manually in anticipation of increased activity for an item.

Cycle Counting: The cycle count functionality built into QC IMS allows for multiple methods of counting to ensure inventory accuracy.   Counts may be taken based on Location, Item, Last Cycle Count Date, or Velocity.   Full reconciliation and discrepancy reports are provided as well as the capability to track all cycle count history.
