General Overview of iPhoto '09
Of all the photo archive and basic editing porgrams, iPhoto is one of the easiest if not easiest. Apple has always strived to make all of their products whether hardware or software user-friendly and iPhoto is an example of this. iPhoto is a software application designed by Apple, Inc. as a photo management and archival system that is efficient, effective, and user-friendly. The iPhoto was first issued in 2002. Several versions have been released since then, the last being iPhoto '09. This was unveiled at the Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco, CA last January 2009.
Organize
Faces, a new feature in the '09 version, is capable of identifying faces of persons. By simply adding a name to a couple of a person's pictures, iPhone can search your database for all other photos of that person. You can confirm if these are indeed the right photos with a click. Clicking on the Faces view displays photos of persons you have named. Click on a particular person's photo and all other confirmed and suggested pictures of that person appears.
You can choose to arrange your photos based on where they were taken. Places is another new option in the iPhoto '09. Data uploaded from your iPhone or any GPS-enabled camera can be used by Places to sort photos by location. You can still use Places and add locations to your photos without an iPhone or GPS camera. You will only need to type the name of a place, enter an address, or drop a pin on a map.
With iPhoto you can also group and label a set of pictures taken at a single event, say a birthday party or a wedding. The next time you want to browse through those photos, simply type the name of the event. This feature is also available in the older versions.
Edit
Sometimes you release the shutter too soon and end up with average-looking photos. Thanks to the iPhoto, you can eliminate red-eye and adjust exposure, contrast, and brightness for more impressive photos. You can also play around with color tones, or add borders.
Publish and Share
iPhoto can create a professional-looking slide show out of your photos that you can share with your friends. Uploading to Facebook or Flickr is only a click on an icon away. If you wish, you can share the pictures in print as a calendar, greeting card, or photo book.
