The Sys Blue Screen Error - How to fix BSOD

The infamous sys blue screen error or as known as the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) is an error displayed on a blue screen by Windows, indicating a critical error in the operating system kernel. The blue screen error means that your computer is temporarily unstable or become unresponsive because of a critical error and you must restart your computer.

When this error occures, the Windows operating system stop responds and stopping all tasks on your computer to prevents damage, and indicating the problem in text error message in the Sys Blue Screen error.

In the earlier versions of windows, the sys blue screen error was very popular, and appears more frequently then in XP and Vista.

In Windows XP/Vista the default settings when the sys blue screen occurred is to automatically restart your computer. So, you'll only see a blue flash before the computer restarts. But if you want to fix the sys blue screen error, you have to be able to see the error. By disabling the automatic restart feature, you will be able to see the error message itself, which indicates the appropriate problem.

Disabling the sys blue screen error auto-reboot in XP and Vista

If you have Windows Vista or XP, and from time to time your operating system reboots by itself, it is because of the sys blue screen error. In order to see what error caused the sys blue screen error, you will have to see the blue screen itself. With this tip you can disable the Auto-Reboot so you can finally read, and see the sys blue screen error.

  1. Go Start, Control Panel, System and Maintenance, System
  2. Go to Advanced System Settings
  3. Inside the Startup and Recovery section Click on Settings.
  4. Inside System Failure section uncheck the "Automatically restart".

Fixing the Sys Blue Screen error

After you restart your computer, hit the F8 key and start your windows in safe mode. Use one of the following solutions according to your Sys Blue Screen error message:

  • Remove the Virus/Spyware - Run Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware to get rid of the virus or spyware you have on your computer. You should run your Adware program to check that your computer is clean from any other adware or spyware.
  • Uninstall malfunctioning drivers - Go to start menu, Right click on my computer, select properties. Look for the device with an exclamation mark next to it. That would be your malfunctioning device.
  • Defrag your computer - Run Disk Defragmenter on your computer hard drive and also schedule a check disk.
  • Fix your Windows Registry - Run registry cleaner software to scan your entire registry, and fix all the errors inside.
  • Replace faulty RAM stick - If it is RAM problem, replace the faulty RAM stick.

If you keep your computer healthy, using tools like registry cleaner, disk defragmenter and anti-spyware, and by fixing all the drivers troubleshooting on your computer, then you will decrease chances for the BSOD error.
