You may think that Windows Smart Security will detect infections and protect your PC from future parasites and other malware, but think again! This is actually a rogue security program designed to look real to the user, so that they will eventually purchase the product to remove threats from their computer. Beware though; this application has no ability to perform any of the services it claims to.
Through continuous and misleading security warnings, this program alerts the user to infections that supposedly exist. These files are usually created, then later displayed as threats if you allow Windows Smart Security to perform the 'scan' they offer (which the program is also incapable of doing.) They claim they will remove these threats, but you have to purchase the product. Don't waste your money. This malicious software cannot do anything, and in fact is a product that does not even exist!
So what is Windows Smart Security? It is malware – exactly the same thing it advertises to remove from your PC. It may install when you least expect it, and you won't be aware when it happens. Where does it come from? Files that you download, questionable websites, P2P networks and spam emails. This is why it is so important to surf safely! While you won't know when it installs, you definitely will know when it is there. How?
Your PC will become slow, which is largely due to the fact that these applications use a large amount of your system resources and remain resident in the background. Your computer may also become unstable, you may be bombarded by pop-up ads, and your browser may send you to strange websites. Your home page may also change. These symptoms are common indicators of spyware.
Other things that may concern you about this program is that it may track what you do online and gain access to private information. Your personal passwords, credit card information and other business data may be at risk. In worst case scenarios, your PC may even crash. Windows Smart Security should be removed as soon as possible, but don't attempt to do this yourself. It is a difficult process that could lead to further damage of your computer.
When you suspect that malware has been placed on your PC, the best action to take is to use a reputable antispyware application to remove it automatically. Be sure to choose one that is backed by the Better Business Bureau, and 100% guaranteed to restore security!
