Chris Moneymaker began playing bridge with his grandmother in his childhood but soon he started playing blackjack with his father to cut the long story short, he was interested in the game of cards since his childhood. The real name of this famous poker player contrary to popular belief is really Christopher Bryan Moneymaker, he used to be an accountant by profession but all that changed when he won the WSOP main event in 2003 and turned out to be a superstar.
He began as an amateur player but after he won that famed tournament he shot into stardom overnight. Chris Moneymaker is one of the most famous poker professionals in the country today and he has toured the entire world winning many events across the globe.
Chris Moneymaker truly is a living legend. How else do you describe a poker player who went back home richer by two and a half million dollars on his first live tournament. After winning his first tournament, Chris quit his job and became a fulltime poker player.
Till today his total winning purse is about $2,781,730. Some of the achievements of this maverick poker player include, 2004 shooting star WPT Season 2 where he held the second position. He has traveled a lot around the world to play in large buy-in tournaments. This amazing poker player is one of his kind, who left a stable career for poker. He even has an autobiography in his name which has been aptly named Moneymaker.
On the other hand Amir Vahedi is considered to be what most people can say the ultimate survivor story. This man left his motherland Iran in the dawn of a war and came to the land of hope to earn a better living. Soon he grew an interest for poker and it was not long before he started winning the big tournaments. Amir Vahedi is considered as one of the most charismatic players of this country. He is an out and out charmer at the poker table. But beware, this charmer has got a ruthless attitude when he is at the table and crushes any opposition with a finality that is unparalleled.
Because of the enormous amount of skill that he possesses, this famed poker player has won a lot of distinctions. Amir was the winner of the No Limit Texas Hold'em in the year 2001, he even finished sixth at the famous WSOP No Limit Texas Hold'em and as a part of the winnings he brought home approximately $270,000.
Amir Vahedi has also won the WSOP bracelet in the year 2003. This enigmatic personality admits to the fact that he took some time to acquire the money management skills that is an important quality among the professional poker players.
Both Chris Moneymaker and Amir Vahedi are renowned poker players who have proved their mettle on the poker table time and again. Now it is up to you to decide who is the better of them. These two poker pros have always been an inspiration to me.
