Golf Clubs Selection Tips For Better Scores

Golf clubs are the basic requirements of the game. The equipment that you need to play a game of golf is called golf clubs. There are different types of clubs in the golf bag. But the player is allowed no more than 14 clubs in the bag. If you look at the golf clubs you will realize that they look different from each other. They are called woods, irons, wedges, hybrid woods and putters. The golf club has three basic parts. They are the grip, the shaft and the head.

When you have to hit the ball and want that ball to cover a great distance down the fairway and towards the hole you use the golf club known as the woods. It has a large head and shaft. The combination is useful for the maximum speed. In the beginning the woods were made from Persimmon wood but now most of the manufactures are making woods from different metals.

Irons have flat angled face and they are shorter shaft than the wood. These clubs are used to hit the shots from difficult places such as the rough or if you have to take a shot over the trees. The name again suggests that they used to be made out of cast iron,

Wedges are irons with a higher loft. Wedges are multi purpose golf clubs. They are used for short distance shots, to place the ball precisely on the fairway so that the next shot at the green will be easier.

Hybrids are as the name suggests a cross between the irons and the woods. So these clubs are useful when you have to hit the ball long distance but need the swing of iron.
Putters are designed to roll the ball along the grass.

If you look at the construction of the golf clubs you can identify the three parts. The grip is the part you hold. The head is the part that hits the ball and the shaft is the part that connects the grip and the head.

There are rules regarding the golf clubs. According to those rules the grip has to be round without any hollows or lumps. You will find the grip comes with various sizes to suit the individual. The shaft is made out of metal. Sometimes steel is used and some shafts are made of carbon-fiber. The stiffness of shaft can be different.

Head of the golf clubs has more variation than the grip or the shaft. You will find that the woods, irons and the putters have different heads. Woods have the largest heads than any other golf clubs. This helps the ball to travel the distance of 300 yards or more.

Irons are used for variety of shots so the head of this golf club. In the past it used to be blade shaped head with the weight concentrated in the center of the club. But now the manufactures making the head with its weight distributed around the perimeter. The putters come with various shapes such as blades, blocks, long, short etc.
