Looking for a basketball goal for your team can be overwhelming. There are so many choices available, what is right for your team? When looking for a basketball goal for your team, you need to take some things into consideration. These considerations can help you to choose the basketball goal that will work for your specific team.
The first thing to consider is the age and size of your players. Are they still growing? Are there many different sized players are your team? If you are working with a team of young children who are still growing in their size and skill, an adjustable height basketball goal is the right choice. An adjustable system allows you to adjust the height of the goal to meet the needs of your players. You can even play a game with the goals adjusted to a lower height.
It is challenging to have a team with players of many different heights, but because children grow and develop at different stages, this is pretty common. Having an adjustable height system gives you the versatility to adjust the goal to different heights during practice so all players can give it their best shot. This adjustability makes it fair play for all.
If you are working with pre-teens an adjustable height goal is still a good option. At this age, kids are just coming into their own when it comes to skills. Having the option to adjust the height for shorter or taller players will help you to hone the skills of each player.
Players in high school and college need to play with a goal that is regulation size. This means it is 10 feet from the ground to the rim. No matter what the heights of your players are, they will need to be able to play with a 10 foot goal during competition. You can use a fixed height goal that stays at 10 feet or you can raise an adjustable height system to its highest height.
When it comes to the backboard, it is more important for older players than younger players. For younger teams, the backboard is a means to help them score. You will be instructing them in how to aim for the shooters square which is outlined above the basket. For older players, they are learning the important skill of rebounding. Rebounding is a very important part of the game.
The largest sized backboard is 42" x 72". This is regulation size and is required for high school and college competition. Having a backboard this large can be intimidating to younger players so a smaller sized backboard is more appropriate for them. When it comes to the material of the backboard fiberglass is a great choice for younger players. For high school and older, a tempered glass backboard is the best for rebounding and game play action.
Whatever age and level your team is, finding the right basketball goal for them can be easy if you just follow these simple guidelines.
