Kiteboard Event In Netherlands

Do you know what a kiteboard is? Well, in case you are not quite familiar about it or you may just have heard about it now, then let me tell you that kiteboard, per se, is a board that is used in a water sport. The sport itself is known as kiteboard and you may also hear about it being referred to as kitesurfing.

What happens with this sport is that a board, the kiteboard, is used by a person. That person goes out in the ocean and then has this kite that he (or she) can control. The power of the wind then makes the kite fly and that force of that pulls the kiteboarder across the ocean. The kiteboarder then can do amazing tricks on the water. Just think of it like wind surfing or skiing except that this one uses a kite. And if you do take a look at that kite that is being used, you will not think of it as a kite as it does not resemble, in any way, the ordinary kites that kids play around with.

Anyhow, this year, there is a kiteboard event. And this event is happening in the Netherlands. Just in case you also did not know, this country is one of the places in the world where this sport is very popular. In fact, many people believe that this may be the center of kiteboarding. However, that has not yet proven to be correct and there is no place yet claiming to be the center of kiteboarding. In any case, just think of the Netherlands as a place where there are a lot who are into this sport and who are really versed when it comes to this.

The kiteboard event is known as the 2009 Kiteboard Open and it is the biggest of its kind in the mentioned country. It is going to happen for two days. It starts on the end of May and ends the following day, June 1st. If you are interested, you may start clearing your schedule and head for the Netherlands' Noordwijk which is a village found in the western part of the country. This has a huge area for kiteboarding and this is where the event will be happening. And before you head out, you may want to find a kiteboarding sale or get your used kiteboard. You may need it once you are there and the waves and the wind tempt you.
