Learn How to Play Gin Rummy Online Today!

If you are part of the new generation of gamers, you might not be aware of a card game that became popular back in 1909. It's called Gin Rummy. The name may somehow say a lot about the beverage of choice back then, but the game is just as popular. The game is a version of the Rummy method wherein players "draw and discard" cards in order to form valid combinations or card sets. Poker may be hogging the headlines because of the celebrities that play and endorse the game, but Gin Rummy is as addictive. It continues to be a pastime activity of old folks, but that's not to say that young people are not playing it. In fact, with the help of Internet, the game has been incarnated in digital form. That's right, you can now play Gin Rummy online. This means that if you can't find people to play offline, you can turn to the Internet and find loads of people willing to play with you. With so many people logging on to play Gin Rummy online, there's never any problem finding a worthy opponent.

The rules of the online game version are exactly the same as the offline version, but the scoring becomes easier and more accurate. This makes the game even more appealing. The online version also lets you understand the rules of the game very quickly. So, even if you have zero knowledge of the game, you can still play the game without having to worry about the rules. The standard rules are already simple, but the online version has made understanding the game even more fun. As such, you should try to play Gin Rummy online.

As in the traditional way of playing, the online Gin Rummy follows the Rummy method of "draw and discard". If you play Gin Rummy online, the rules will be the same, only easier to understand as you get interactive instructions. The standard deck of cards is ranked from low to high: Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, Jack, Queen, King. Each card also has corresponding points. The Face cards are worth 10 points each, the Ace is one point, and the rest of the cards is worth their index value. The object of the game is to collect a hand and form valid combinations consisting of a run or a set. This means that you can have three or more cards that form same suit in consecutive order, or cards of the same rank. The unmatched sets you have in hand will have point value; the lower the total value, the better. If you have formed a valid combination and the total value of your unmatched cards is 10 points or less, you can end the play by "knocking". If you have no unmatched cards, then it means you are "going gin". At the end of the final play, the scores will be tallied and the first to reach 100 points wins the game. If you play Gin Rummy online, the scoring is not going to be as tedious.
