The nobles of Europe found roulette to be their premier gambling game.
The earliest form of roulette wagering saw soldiers betting on what area pointed to this or that person, place or thing. Guess right and you won something. Guess wrong and you lost something.
Over the generations, roulette evolved into the game we now see, with numbers, colors, and various options that one can place a wager.
Perhaps slot machines, poker or keno is not up your alley when you visit your favorite casinos online or off.
You are looking for something with some uncertainty, something to play with a little risk and a spin of a wheel. Then explore the game of roulette.
There are two versions of roulette, the American version and the European version.
The American version has 36 numbers and a green 0 and 00. The European version has 36 numbers and a single 0.
In its most basic form, Roulette is a game where the players either place a bet on a number, the color red or black, or whether the number is going to be odd or even.
Additional betting options and payouts for a double zero table are:
Straight Up - Any numbers, 0 and 00--35 to 1
Column - Any 12 numbers in a column--2 to 1
Dozen - 1st 12, 2nd 12 or 3rd 12--2 to 1
Red or Black--1 to 1
Odd or Even--1 to 1
1 to 18 or 19 to 36--1 to 1
Split - Any 2 neighboring numbers--17 to 1
Row - Any 3 numbers in a row--11 to 1
Corner - Any of the 4 contiguous numbers--8 to 1
5 Numbers - 0, 00, 1, 2 & 3. Don't do it!--6 to 1
Double Row - Any 6 numbers in 2 rows--5 to 1
Outside bets are placed in the boxes and columns on the outer areas of the layout.
Inside bets are placed directly on a number or on a line between numbers.
After the bet is made, the croupier spins a wheel to determine what number and color wins.
That winning number/color is determined by where the ball stops.
It's a game of chance and winning depends on which numbers and colors you choose.
There are a few simple strategies. You can just play a game of colors by choosing either black or red. Another strategy is to bet on odd or even numbers.
A better strategy is to develop pattern betting where you place your bets on the same colors or numbers before each spin.
Distance yourself from randomly betting all over the roulette table, but rather predetermine how much and where you will place your bets on the table.
Keep in mind that no strategy is going to guarantee that you will win as this is a game of chance based on numbers, colors, and a tiny ball spinning around a wheel.
However-it's very entertaining, has a long history and is different from any other casino game.
You can play for free online to practice your pattern betting and explore the promotional bonus offers for real play.
Be smart, start by betting small and happy spinning!
