Sporting Gear Storage in British Columbia

British Columbia is one of the largest metropolitan provinces of Canada and is famed for its rich natural beauty. What’s more, its outdoors allow for a large number of adventure sports and activities. This makes it one of the most tourist friendly provinces of Canada, which leads us to the discussion on storage facilities. Since Canada has weather than can range anywhere from mild to extreme. With a greater emphasis on the latter, there are a number of times in the year when conducting outdoor activities becomes extremely difficult. Not only is the weather difficult for the people, but can also cause damages to equipment that is left outdoors. This is where indoor storage facilities prove to be a boon.

Summer Sports

Hiking, camping, trekking and fishing are very popular during the summer months in British Columbia. And added to this is whitewater rafting, kayaking, sailing and sail boarding. Because of the rough terrain, most of the equipment needed for such activities is heavy and bulky. It not only ensures complete protection but also helps endure any sudden unexpected changes in temperature and climate.

During the winter months, most of the equipment needs to be stored indoors as heavy snowfall can cause damage to it. Many of the storage facilities offer large units that can be used to keep all sorts of equipment from rafts to kayaks, diving gear, camping equipment etc. While in some cases, individuals due to the popularity of these activities own their own equipment, however in most cases they are easier to take on rent. You thus have a number of rental companies as storage facility customers. And their requirements include high security, moisture and dust proof units as well as easy access. Come the winter months, all this equipment is packed away safely to be stored till next spring. And equipment suited to the heavy snowfall that British Columbia experiences is brought out.

Winter Sports

Popular winter sports here are cross-country skiing, sledging, long boarding and snow boarding. These have not only become popular domestic sports but have now gained international repute. This is why the 2010 Winter Olympics are slated to be held in the Vancouver, next year. With this area having what is considered to be one of the best array of hills and mountains for winter sports, the storage facilities are much in demand for safeguarding all the heavy equipment required for the same. The terrain is rough and the need for snowmobiles and heavy-duty vehicles increases as the winter progresses. Then as summer approaches, all of these go into storage. In most cases, this equipment is stored outdoors and covered with tarp or industrial strength plastic sheets. This is sufficient to tide over the tepid summer months. However, if the same was done to the equipment used for summer sports, there would be much damage and expense incurred.

The British Columbia storage facilities are much in demand throughout the year for primarily large and bulky sporting equipment. With units of all sizes available to hold any and all sorts of gear, you can rest assured that they will have the right size space for just about anything you have.
