Sports in India- Revealing India’s Fascination

India is a very popular country, which is full of adventurous sports and games. In India there are numerous numbers of sports and adventurous activities such as cricket, football, hockey, tennis, lawn tennis, baseball and golf. Amongst all such sports hockey is the national sport of India and cricket are the most famous one out of all such sports in the country. India has played a very vast role in sports and always gives their best for its increment or development. Moreover, India always participated in every Olympic Games.

In 1900, India was first taken part in Olympic Games with a lone athlete and won two medals in athletics. Since 1920, India starts participating in every Summer Games. In addition, onwards from 1964 India starts taking parts in Winter Olympic Games also. In total, India has won 20 medals till now at Olympic Games. The first gold medal was won by India at Olympic Game is in 1928 in men’s field hockey. The first person who won the gold medal for India is Abhinav Bindra; he became the first gold medalist in shooting at the Olympic Games. A part with this, Sushil Kumar became the first bronze medalist of wrestling in 2008.

India’s national sport hockey has remarkable records of wining Olympic gold medals eight times. This sport has set India on the tallest place and proves itself best to the world. After Independence, Indian Hockey Lions roared with new found vitality and created disaster among the ranks of the rival team. Hockey sport is a team game in which two teams of eleven members are potholed against one another to goal the ball in wining court. India has a wonderful path record of hockey in Olympics.

Moreover, the most admired Indian sport is Cricket. The Indian cricket sports team always represents India on international level. Cricket is administrated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) which joins the various state cricket boards from all over the country. Basically, Cricket is a team game, with eleven members on each side in which ten members are stayed on the field. The main objective of the team which batting first is to score as many runs and then bowl out the opponent before they score more. The team which bowling first tries to bowl out the batting side member and then out score them. In the field of cricket, several people have marked their names in the record books such as Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Saurabh Gangully, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and so on.
