The Basics You Need To Know Before You Start Playing Tennis

Author: Gregg Hall Author Ranking Gold Featured Author | Posted: 01-02-2008 | Comments: 0 | Views: 9 | Rating:  (51) Article Popularity - Blue (?) Got a Question? Ask.

If you have ever stopped to actually think about the game and sport of tennis you would soon realize that it is not that hard of a sport and most people can learn to play it. There are some basic rules that you need to know before you start playing but you will soon learn about them. You will need to be in pretty good shape to play a real game of tennis.

The first things that you are going to need when you are first starting off playing the game of tennis is a tennis racquet, a few tennis balls and some tennis shoes and some light clothing to play in. You will want to wear light clothing so you can get around your clothes and get to the tennis ball to hit it back across court. You will learn how to play the game quick it's not that hard of a sport and you will be playing in no time at all.

The tennis court that you are playing on must be full size regulation or the people that you are playing with are going to say well your side of the court was bigger and you will just have arguments. The net goes in the dead middle of the court and there is a service line that runs parallel to it. Where you will start playing at will be at the base line these lines are the last set of lines in the back if the court and that is where you will serve the ball to the opposing team.

There are other lines still and those lines are called the alleys. When you are playing in doubles the alleys will be open and you will not be panelized for hitting out of bounds. In regular tennis the alleys would be considered out of bounds and therefore you would have points taken from your score overall. So that is another thing to watch out for when you are in the game of tennis.

So to start the game all you would need to do is serve the ball into your opponent's service box and wait to see if they return the ball for a started game. The game is very easy and will not take long at all for you to get how to play the sport and actually get how to play the game. Once you get how to play the game it is pretty fun you are hitting the ball back and forth and it is kind of like table tennis except on a bigger scale. So if you wanted to try to play tennis you should go for it because it is not that hard at all and it will be fun for the whole family. If you don't think that it is a good sport for you and your family that is up to you but if you are a family of four it would be the perfect sport because you can play doubles in tennis.
