Bonjour everyone. This is hopefully the first in a very long list of articles that I'll write on lots of different wrestling related topics. When I was told to write this article a long list of topics came in to my head, things such as articles on: who I thought was the greatest wrestler of all time, who I believe is the best performer in the ring and what I believe are the most overrated finishers in professional wrestling but then I thought "how about writing an article telling people why I believe Total Non stop Action wrestling is the best professional wrestling federation in the world that I know of which is exactly what I'm going to do, prepare to be ranted at.
The first reason that brings me round to this way of thinking is the way that "The King Of The Mountain" Jeff Jarrett started TNA from the ground up. I am one of those guys that believe that something earned is a lot more satisfying then something just given to you, fair enough that Vince McMahon of WWE has turned his company into a global franchise but he didn't found it, originally his father made the company and then passed it down, I applaud Double J on his hard work as I believe he has made a top class company out of nothing, the story truly is inspiring.
The next reason I think that TNA totally owns WWE on and that is matches, yeah WWE has had some great matches like the elimination chamber and the 'cell' (PG rating going way too far) but I don't believe that those matches are even in the same league as the "Feast or Fired", "Lethal Lockdown", "Ultimate Sacrifice", "King Of The Mountain" or even the "Ultimate X" Matches. Now for a breakdown of each match don't you think?
Feast or Fired;
Some people have said that this match is pretty much a Money In The Bank Match that WWE puts on every year and in some ways I guess they would be right, both matches consist of the competitors aiming to collect a briefcase(s) that is suspended up above the ring but that is about it on similarities because the MITB match consists of only one briefcase with only one title shot that goes along with it oh and it has 6 competitors vying for the case, whereas FoF has 4 briefcases with 14 wrestlers. In my world the bigger the numbers the better the show, the idea of FOF is get hold of a briefcase which will entitle you to either a tag team title shot, an X division title shot, a heavyweight title shot or you could be unlucky and get the case which dictates that you must be fired for at least a year, and in the 2 years it has been done the same person has got that case and has been fired (Daniels and Curry man, if you didn't know they were the same person, shame on you), but with the number of talented guys in the match, it never disappoints. One memorable moment stands out for me and that's when the guys of the Motor City Machine Guns were holding up one of the briefcases in victory (they hadn't actually won the match yet as the rules state that your feet must touch the floor around the ring while holding the case for it to count, and they were in the ring) and out of nowhere "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal went springboard and stole the case straight from them, it was great acting from everyone involved and in the end that is all that matters.
I think I'll discuss those other matches in another article if I get the chance but anyways.... TO THE SKIES! Or... The next section, your choice.
The second area in which I believe TNA far outranks the WWE is on the pure talent of their X Division, mainly because the WWE has no cruiserweight division to speak of (BOO!), but also because the guys in that division are insanely talented, examples I hear you cry? What about Alex Shelley? Chris Sabin? Jay Lethal (youngest guy on the roster)? Consequences Creed? Daniels? Sheik Abdul Bashir? Eric Young? And finally "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles. I think I made my point, but if that isn't enough for you, then let us just remember some memorable moments from the X Divisions' History, The Match To Crown. The first ever X Division champion has to be there because without it we wouldn't have all these guys now, this match was under double elimination rules (which I thought was awesome!) and had Psicosis, Jerry Lynn, Low Ki and AJ Styles with AJ eventually coming out on top, it seriously was one match that I will never forget, and secondly the steel asylum match which consisted of a lot of guys in a roofed cage trying to climb through a hole in the roof, I will never forget how I felt when I saw all of the guys get taken out by some huge massive spot in the form of a big power bomb suplex hurricanrana thing as the French would say "c'etait super". That means "it was great" for all your non French speakers
Staying on the division's subject, where is WWE's tag division? It used to be awesome back in the day but now has withered away to nothing, What ever happened to the likes of the Hardy Boyz? The Dudley Boys? Edge and Christian? I remember watching those TLC matches with awe, and now you never see anything like it in WWE but you do in TNA. I mean not even a month ago, Team 3D had their open invitational tag tournament which consisted of the Motor City Machine Guns, Lethal Consequences, The British Invasion and Beer Money plus others in it, and as 3D always say "tag team wrestling is alive and well in TNA" and they're right, one of the reasons I tune into TNA every week is to see the tag teams do what they do best and that is wrestle. TNA also has 2 sets of IWGP tag champs in the form of team 3D (heavyweight) and the MCMG (junior)
If you hadn't already guessed the MCMG are my favourite tag team probably of all time and both members are accomplished singles wrestlers on the Indy circuit so you know they are good.
That is another thing TNA seems to do really well and that is scout talent, most of the guys on the roster are accomplished wrestlers and so if they are accomplished they must be semi good. I know all the non believers will be thinking "but TNA steals the rejects from WWE" and in a way that is true, a lot of guys do end up in TNA from WWE but that is because WWE doesn't know its own talent, I mean what company gets rid of MRRRRRR KENNNNNNNEDYYYYY????! (have any of you read the blog he wrote about his job being accident prone? God, he is a great man) I mean seriously, they have been doing for years and I'm crazy? Just look at Christian, he was hated in WWE so he left and went to TNA where he was a champion then WWE took him back when they realised they were stupid for releasing him in the first place, same for R truth, he has been fired and rehired so many times he is like a yoyo, the fans loved him in TNA (where he was champ) and love him now (where he isn't even in a title picture), it just makes no sense to me.
Onto the women's division (I know, I skipped the divisions subject a bit but ah well.) Where can you go to see Awesome Kong beating the poor girls of The Beautiful People in stretcher matches? (As well Cute Kip!) Or to watch Tara to also beat on the same poor girls (well a few weeks ago you could have said WWE but not any more so HA). I'm sure Victoria left there 1) Because Vince is a *'; or 2) Because there is no women's talent in WWE well except for Gail Kim, but she is just awesome. If you really need more evidence then just look at Awesome Kong somersaulting off of the top rope (honestly 'tube it, 'tis hilarious).
Onto the comedy value of the brand now, despite being a serious show the guys in creative still manage to make guys laugh, whether it is the many voices of Booker T (he is surprisingly talented with voices), the blunders of Scott Steiner (all the 'roids have gone to his head), another memorable Steiner moment was from the "Cactus Jack smack attack" match between Scotty and JJ where Steiner decided to play on a pogo stick mid match only to be clotheslined off of it, it was just a good bit of fun. Another thing that makes TNA, is the interviewers and the commentators, JB and Lauren have such good personalities and it shines through and then every week you hear some kind of rubbish come out of don west's mouth (mostly about the suicide "conspiracy" lately) but every week something he says makes me laugh and it really does make the difference, also the references to pop culture make it that much more fun (mostly it is about twitter, but its something I can enjoy and I'm sure other teenagers would agree with me).
Now I am not saying that I am completely anti-WWE, I just don't like the fact that one of their main events at a recent event was John Cena Vs Big Show, I mean seriously, both of those wrestlers can't wrestle not even for their lives, see I would watch WWE if they got in proper talent, got rid of all the dead weight and started pushing the superstars as superstars (cough cough Evan Bourne cough) and not just jobbers, also they need to sort out their PG rating, I'm pretty sure little kids will not understand that the violence is staged, so why does a little bit of fake blood or a teensy bit of woman skin make a difference?, They are taking it far. Too far.
Well that was me ranting, feel free to comment below on anything I've said, or anything I could do to improve, or any ideas for future articles I am always looking to better myself so go for it.
