Although there are several different types of fishing lures available on the market today, there are those that seem to be more effective than others. However, when it comes to the individual and his or her preferences, the most effective lures might not be the same. However, when it comes to pike and being a great fishing angler, knowing which lures are effective is important.
While everyone fishing for pike is going to have his or her personal favorites, there are those lures out there that just seem to do better in catching the pike than the rest. One of these lures is commonly known as the boss. It is a spinner bait type lure that is going to get the attention of a pike, even if it's not hungry. Simple curiosity will bring the pike to the lure and then to the catch.
Pike get a mouthful when they bite on this lure, and once they have hit on the lure an individual will know it. Rubber night crawlers are also exceptional when it comes to basic lures and being effective. However, because pike have sharp teeth these type of lures won't last long before they have to be replaced.
Lures such as those known as the super scuds are also effective in catching pike, simply due to the bright colors and the movement that the lure makes once it is cast into the water. The pike simply can't resist the temptation of biting these lures. These lures are considered to be slow sinking, which in all fairness is a good thing considering most pike like to stay in shallow waters when feeding. Also, the super scuds are the type of lures that are durable even when the biggest of pike latch on and get caught.
The Hell Tail lure is effective in catching pike because it seems to be more buoyant than other lures, and with the flipping style tail the pike will go after it. By reeling the line in very slowly with one of these lures attached, the pike will follow anywhere it goes. By the time the pike realizes just what the hell tail is, the pike has already met its doom.
There are many different lures that are considered to be effective in the pike fishing world. And, there are those who would disagree with some of the lures simply because they are not effective for catching pike. Many of the most effective lures for catching pike are those lures that have tails or moving parts of some time that will entice the pike. Shiny lures however for the pike are less effective in the concept that pike don't really like shiny things.
However, bright colors are different because these types of lures can easily be seen by the pike and the pike can follow them better. The B Flat is another effective lure in the sense that it actually floats on the surface of the water until the fisherman gives it a bit of a tug, and then it goes under the water for a bit. This also entices the pike as in some situations and areas pike have been known to actually feed off of the surface.
