Want to be the Highest Jumper?

Author: Carley Taylor Author Ranking Blue | Posted: 15-05-2008 | Comments: 0 | Views: 54 | Rating:  (91) Article Popularity - Blue (?) Got a Question? Ask.

Jocks dream of getting the highest vertical leap that can put Michael Jordan's slam dunks in shadows. But is this a lofty feat to accomplish? After a lot of effort, you can jump higher than your normal 4 inches. But how do you jump higher in no time?

Regardless if you are a basketball athlete, a hurdler, or a football jock, you'll aim for higher vertical leap. This type of prowess needs not just the correct mindset, but requires the physical stamina and the right workouts for your kind of sport.

Chances are you wish to better your game by jumping higher. You can take those long basketball shots with a high jump. In a jump event, those hurdles can be jumped without effort. In football, you'll be able to intercept those goals before they wham your net.

Health and Exercises

The abdomen, shoulder, bicep, calf, and hamstring muscles are essential in the high jump, and workouts developed by high jump training professionals are required to develop them. These exercises are diversely structured for each person, though, because body build, weight, and height vary.

The exercise involves jumping, running, squatting, and muscle-flexing. Routines that improve speed are also incorporated in the workouts. All exercises have to start and end with the stretching of these body parts to avoid muscle injuries.

By jumping everyday, you build up stamina and subsequently improve. Squats and running backwards strengthen the calf muscles. You'll notice a considerable increase in your vertical leap in no time.

You can increase leg power with step-ups and lunges. Step-ups should be done with dumbbells in each hand while raising your knees at an angle of ninety degrees. With lunges, you alternately place one foot forward, keeping your legs at an angle of 90 degrees. Jumping rope, jumping with both feet off the ground, and jumping onto the box builds up power further.

Nutrition should be appropriate for your speed and physical workouts. You will be building muscle, requiring more energy, and maintaining your weight at all costs. To maintain energy and control fat, your trainer will recommend what food to eat. To maintain your stamina, protein and carbohydrates at the right amount are needed.

Training on Your Own

You can train independently, whether you're a professional or a newbie. It's better to consult online experts, however, to be aware of the proper workouts and diet needed to improve your vertical jump.

Online professionals will provide training CDs for your routine. To check your improvement, you can ask a friend to measure your jumps. It'd be a good idea to measure the height of your jump prior to the training program, so you can monitor your improvement.
