Williams Sisters Face Off at Wimbledon

Tennis pro sisters Venus and Serena Williams went head-to-head in the final Wimbledon Tennis Championship match. The win was Venus' fifth Wimbledon Championship title.

"Winning this tournament so many times puts you in the stratosphere," she said. Venus' dream is to pass Martina Navratilova's record of nine championships in a row, but she says, "Her career spanned three decades and I'm not sure if I have that much time. Tennis is so much different now."

Serena was in the lead 4-2 in the first set. "I just lost rhythm at the end of the first set and made a lot of errors," she explained after the match. "I didn't feel tight but I couldn't get the balls in and nothing I was doing seemed to work." The loss for Serena was her first in a Grand Slam final since 2001.

The sisters say they have to look at each other as opponents, not sisters, on the court. Venus said, "I think I was a little bit more relaxed than her."

The windy day added to the stress of the match. Venus added, "I think the level of play was really high. I think a lot of the times one of us was overpowering the other. In between, we had some really competitive rallies and intense points where one player would come back and take the point when it looked like the other player was going to win."

Nadal and Federer Once Again at Wimbledon

Rafael Nadal won the men's Wimbledon Tennis Championship. The win places Nadal as the first man since Bjorn Borg to win both the French Open and Wimbledon Championships back to back. The Majorcan native said, "It is a dream to play on this court, my favorite tournament, but to win, I never imagined." His parents, coach and uncle were there to support him and cheer him on.

A win for Federer would have been his sixth consecutive Wimbledon Championship title. "I tried everything, got a little late, but look, Rafa is a deserving champion. He just played fantastic," Federer said. He went on to say, "The rain didn't make it any easier, but you have to expect the worst, and he's the worst opponent on the best court. It's a pity I couldn't win it, but I'll be back next year."

Upon entering the court, both men were met with fans chanting their names. The championship title was just within reach for one of them. A very close match ensued until, at 7-7, the match was locked. Finally Nadal served and forced a forehand swing by Federer. He hit the net and the championship title went to Nadal.

Laura Robson Wins Girls Wimbledon Championship

Fourteen-year-old Laura Robson is the first Brit to win the Girls Wimbledon Championship since 1984. She admitted being very nervous when she walked out onto the court.

She said, "I thought I was going to be sick when I walked on the court, as there were so many people watching." The win gives her the opportunity for a wildcard that will allow her to enter next year's senior event.

Thailand native, Noppawan Lertcheewakarn met Robson on the court with full confidence and demeanor of a winner. Both girls had worked long and hard to achieve the championship.
