World Hunger and Composition of Mother's Milk

Hasan A. Yahya, Ph.Ds

Hunger and famine and malnutrition influence the health of human being. For example, the mother milk composition is different between mothers live in poor regions and mothers live in rich regions.  The gap between poor and rich regions is considered by many as a world crisis. Hunger cannot be banished from earth, but human sufferings could be reduced to bring satisfaction to a large number of human race. The world is obliged to find factors to reduce the hunger  crisis. Science should be directed toward more production to  provide: plant protein, amino acid supplementation, protein from petroleum, fish protein, desalting of sea water, and synthetic foods.

The serious food shortage can be seen in the form of  malnutrition, and under-nutrition. To put it in simple words: Under-nourished persons with low amount of calories intake, will not be able to fulfill the requirements of energy.  Malnutrition is a deficit in certain nutrients, which as a consequence leads to the appearance of deficiency symptoms. The most critical, of course, is the shortage of protein. Inadequate amounts of certain vitamins induce several diseases. For example, vitamin A induces blindness, Vitamin B induces beri-beri , and vitamin C, induces scurvy.

Here is ingredients of mother milk in two regions the less and the more developed countries (MDC) as the Composition of Mother's milk (CMC in 100 ml) are explained. In less developed countries (LDC), 58.07 calories and only 1.0 calories in more developed countries; Protein 96 (g) and 1.2.; Calcium, 28.0 (mg) and 33.0,  Vitamin A, 9.1 and 53.0;  Riboflavin 24,04 and 3.0 (mcg); and Ascorbic Acid is 0.8 and 4.3 respectively. While Lactose, (7.0 g) Fat (2.8), Iron 0.8, Thiamine (18 and 16 mcg) and Niacin (0.15 and 0.17) which is almost equal in both LDC and MDC respectively.

Knowing these facts, may contribute in reducing hunger in addition to other factors according to social science especially rural areas, such as population control: Population growth is one of the hunger problems in capitalist view according to Malthusian theory. This problem have to be checked to control hunger and famine. Other factor is introducing massive education curricula in agriculture, sanitation, nutrition, medicine, water provision, and food processing. Furthermore, re-allocation of available resources from military build-up, space endeavors and atomic research to more urgent needs. Media and information is another factor where using radio, television, press, internet, for public education about hunger and famine, and rapid and effective measures to improve storage of food products.

In conclusion, the LDCs as well as the MDCs have to  join forces to tackle the problem of hunger and poverty by increasing the fertilizers and other agricultural inputs to maximize, food outputs, instead of luxury coffee production. And to collect enough data and information of actual resources (soil, water, forests, and fuels) and needs in order to implement constructive hunger reduction plans and finally, exploiting ocean and sea  resources to be directed to feeding the hungry.
